21/7/2010 16:51 | and so it goes on :) | induna123
21/7/2010 16:50 | Induna - the same place Kopane would have got it from. A mixture of project finance and equity. | wdurham
21/7/2010 16:49 | It's all a ploy. 25p bid soon imo. | half a scargill
21/7/2010 16:49 | Induna123. Agree with you. I was surprised it wasn't someone bigger than FDI turned out to be as suitor. As you say, perhaps there's something further down wind. | devil20
21/7/2010 16:40 | The whole market is full of asset rich and cash poor companies and doesnt need another one. WD Fair point, but I expect the reaction here and the consequences of inaction may inspire more people than usual to cast their vote. | parsnip884
21/7/2010 16:34 | I know nothing about FDI so had a quick look at the chart. What was that big hit mid 2008? Looks more than just the credit crunch but may not be. Anyway, FDI may not be a bad share to be in with the enlargement of KDD. It's sat not far above its 5 yr low at the moment. Any thoughts/opinions? | devil20
21/7/2010 16:33 | parsnip - If only that were so! (But then we'd have to go through another sales campaign with Mr Scolaro. "Roll up, roll up, get yore rocks 'ere, better than half price!" LOL) But think it through. Most PIs, and there are a lot of them, hold via nominee accounts. Many of the on-line execution-only brokers do not forward Corporate Action documentation - you have to ask for it, and even then you might not get it. Many of them will not vote on shareholders' behalf at general meetings. Those that do need a lot of fiddling about to enable it to happen, and then you have to nag them to make sure they do it. Even getting a letter of representation so that you can attend the meeting and vote in person is a real pain. In the face of all that most retail punters simply don't bother to vote. | wdurham
21/7/2010 16:31 | adam, up until nov 07 it was European Diamonds. | rambutan2
21/7/2010 16:30 | I wonder if the mystery MoU partner will come back to Firestone if this deal goes through? Everybody keeps saying FDI has no cash but they would get this mine restarted quickly with a partner. Obviously Big Frank wasn't going to bother, the bustard. Worth reading again | induna123
21/7/2010 16:23 | The good news is its derisked. Bad news is the upside is reduced and there will be a huge overhang of underwhelmed KDD investors looking for an exit once it goes through which will have a dragging effect on the share price for the foreseeable future | jimmyjagger
21/7/2010 16:23 | So- is it cheaper to get into FDI by purchasing KDD now, or is it better simply to buy FDI shares. If FDI fall another ! 2p tomorrow, KDI may drop another penny, for example. I happen to have sold all my diamond shares yeterday! ( as I mentioned today eg on the MML thread) to find funds for more MML BP etc. By co-incidence. So what on earth M I to do now. H. | hectorp
21/7/2010 16:21 | What was Kopane called before? - Oh yes, it was EPD. I knew it sounded familiar. I did have a punt on these many moons ago. Didn't know what i was doing then either. I'm expecting some broker coverage and will now sit on a few radars given its combined portfolio. | adam
21/7/2010 16:21 | I'll be putting a resounding "NO" against my 48 shares. If Scholaro wants to have a quiet word in my shell like, he knows where I am. | half a scargill
21/7/2010 16:20 | Wendy - may I say, a brilliant assessment as things stand. the only rider I would add is that perhaps, just perhaps, this is not the end of the story. | 123asd
21/7/2010 16:14 | WD You make it sound like a done deal. The bod, as far as I am aware, work on behalf of the shareholders (in theory) and can only recommend a deal; not present a fait accompli, as they dont have the power to do that. I still believe half the shareholders will vote this out at the egm. Whats in it for them ? | parsnip884
21/7/2010 16:09 | 'Snips - if there's one thing investing in diamond juniors teaches, it's patience. What's another couple of months, during which we may see further developments? | 123asd
21/7/2010 16:07 | from FDI board: | wh0sthedaddy
21/7/2010 15:56 | wh0sthedaddy - 21 Jul'10 - 15:33 - 7512 of 7514 Nice summary. 6 months for this load of old cobblers. | parsnip884
21/7/2010 15:54 | Whosthedaddy's post above summarises things well IMO. smarm makes an excellent observation- as FDI drifts, the offer's value price drifts consequently. I'd be more inclined to seek value in buying FDI now - esepecially down at 28-29p. PS lets remember that anything related to Zim and diamonds is currently suspect to the drift we expect in diamond pricing due to zim selling diamonds out later in the year. Even so.. | hectorp
21/7/2010 15:41 | whO FDI hardly a big player look at their cap. | pembury |
