@melody. But your forgetting about all the covidiots who just don't understand our Governments guidelines and are determined to spread it and kill as many people as possible. You must have seen them on the telly during the last eight months or so ? Stocking up on toilet rolls, rioting in the streets, having illegal parties, breaking the rule of six etc. How can any Government make any plans when there are nutters like that around. As senn has said - this lockdown will continue into the New Year and I really am hoping that the troops are called upon to keep the covidiots in order.

now this may be too logical - but I would have thought the UK Government would have been keen to let people spend time abroad. after all if they are not in the UK, they are not spreading the virus.

if the foreign country is happy to let us in (after a clean PCR test perhaps) and their infection rate is lower than ours (seems very likely as we are told our rates are so high)....... then holidaymakers returning to the UK will have been exposed to a lower infection rate so should represent a lower risk.

ok so there is the time spent on the flight in close proximity to other passengers - but if they have all had a clean PCR test.....then all good??

I think testing will become the norm in 2021 - by which time we will have lateral flow tests (LFT) with results in 15 minutes. check in at the airport.... get your LFT test....ideally individually identified ...take results to check in .... clean test means your baggage is checked in and away you go. same on return.

friends this morning flying to FARO

20 on plane from Leeds holds 189.
Takes off and goes to Manchester and collects 6 passengers.
Then leaves for Faro.

Passengers at Leeds informed via e mail last night.

Jet2 I love you but what's the point?

They could of taxied the 6 to Leeds or booked the whole 26 on another airline.

I am sure they have their reasons but it looks like madness to me.

You're welcome Scottish. It now looks like the law has been passed so I reckon it's curtains for their winter season and any airlines hoping to fly there. I'm now going to await refunds from both Jet2 and the hotel I had booked a months stay at.

If you're flying out to the Canaries after 10th November you'll need to take a negative test certificate with you. The test must have been carried out 72 hours prior to your flight leaving th UK. This will become law as from this weekend.

I wouldn't worry about that. We can tune out most things and keep an eye on the tape for tipoffs. At the moment it's all driven by wider markets and I honestly do not see anything which might act as a fresh catalyst for a meaningful leg south. Happy to be out but following as closely as ever.
