21/10/2020 10:48 | Agreed on all counts Snorkel. To your point re people impatiently looking to book holidays as soon as they can: against my own better judgement I booked holidays for this half term just a few weeks ago but in the end we are not going simply because the wife feels quite uncomfortable with the idea. Point being is that people have had enough and just the least encouraging piece of news on the covid front should help set the sector on fire. | tongosti
21/10/2020 09:59 | Tong, certainly looking solid currently ...one month and all will be revealed ..ONS state no excess deaths for this time of year, if that holds and the general criticism of lock down continues..maybe in for better news..coupled with better conservation of cash and an upbeat summer statement and bang it could be explosive ...I'm convinced the pent up demand for holidays is huge..who else is better positioned to take advantage than jet2.. | snorkelparker
21/10/2020 08:17 | Here we go again - another heavy down day in the markets whilst airliners are staying put. Who says the markets do not talk to us? | tongosti
20/10/2020 15:38 | The test will come on the 19th of November when we see some number for first half. I am interested in the financials especially the cost to the balance sheet of Covid. The share price today values the company and half its previous high point. The previous high was based on a very profitable company making well over 300 million a year with growth rates of 20/25%. We had 1.2b in cash and a valuable subsidiary company. I think first half losses will be 200 million plus. However there were some big government hand outs during this period that will of helped the wage bill. I expect turnover to be down 45% from last year. tiger | castleford tiger
20/10/2020 10:39 | ...yet one can get tested at several major Italian airports (for free) :-o | billyrayvalentine
20/10/2020 08:39 | Tongosti, seems like you could be right. You don't suppose the hedge fund that bought Flybe is hedging it bets and buying the exact opposite to what it owns, in other words a successful operator. I am flying a kite so no one take it seriously. | our haven
20/10/2020 08:09 | Helps improve sentiment OH - really goes to show that JET2 needs the most trivial piece of news to go up. Very telling in the sense that the selling is very likely well and truly done. If so the path of least resistance is firmly up not down. Those doomsayers who like living in the immediate past will come to regret their lack of understanding on how Mr Market works. Good luck. | tongosti
20/10/2020 08:06 | Tied up elsewhere but love the price action. Been acting right for a few months now. Sellers have all done a Lord Lucan. £10 is the immediate next target. | tongosti
20/10/2020 07:52 | It is good news but there is no obvious reason for the rise. Little bit of testing starts today at Heathrow on outward flights to Italy and Hong Kong but no impact for Jet2 | our haven

15/10/2020 17:24 | Italy gone not a big slot but its another dead sector. tiger | castleford tiger
15/10/2020 10:22 | I reduced my holdings in Jet2 yesterday as I wanted to bank profits and reduce risk to this sector. Jet2 is the only holding I have in the sector which I believe is the best in this sector. Still have some exposure for that reason. Generally speaking though, much better risk return elsewhere. | our haven
15/10/2020 10:21 | restricting the movement of people restricts ....` | spob
15/10/2020 07:39 | Spob the unsymptomatic people in this country can also pass the virus on and kill people but they are not in quarantine. There is very little you can do to protect people from unsymptomatic people except to quarantine all vulnerable people but I do not advocate this as a measure. | minky |
