09/10/2010 01:38 | Genesis - Firth Of Fifth From the album 'Selling England by the Pound'. The path is clear Though no eyes can see The course laid down long before. And so with gods and men The sheep remain inside their pen, Though many times theyve seen the way to leave. He rides majestic Past homes of men Who care not or gaze with joy, To see reflected there The trees, the sky, the lily fair, The scene of death is lying just below. The mountain cuts off the town from view, Like a cancer growth is removed by skill. Let it be revealed. A waterfall, his madrigal. An inland sea, his symphony. Undinal songs Urge the sailors on Till lured by sirens cry. Now as the river dissolves in sea, So neptune has claimed another soul. And so with gods and men The sheep remain inside their pen, Until the shepherd leads his flock away. The sands of time were eroded by The river of constant change. | bamboo2

27/9/2010 10:47 | cheers merlin, yellow dog and motors great [ive got the single somewhere]. sherbet left me a bit cold! the 70's seems a very long time ago. i think i am becomming overly sentimental and backward looking, watched boys from the blackstuff [1982] on tv [bbc4] last night. gritty northern drama helps put things into perspective. | bamboo2
26/9/2010 08:48 | Howzat - Bloody good song (shame about DLT though) | merlin55
26/9/2010 08:20 | Always made me chuckle, plus I like the rhythm work. | merlin55
26/9/2010 08:09 | Report back on the Sansamp Triac pedal: Fender amp - nice clean sound Marshal - good for blues Mesa - a bit thin for me but offers more distortiona than the Marshal (this in that it does an Ok at a Norman Greenbaum Spirit in the sky sound) The memory feature is good in that when you tweak anything the led flashes so u you know how much you strayed from the preset and resetting presets is a breeze. The EQ is vicious and it does warn you about this in the opins to at least turn your amp EQs to flat (or preferably bypass). Note that I've only been trying the pedal DI'd into my AKai DPS24. Also got a BBE Grande Boost pedal and it does exactly that without adding any noise or weird EQ. I really like the Variax Guitar now I've got used used to it. I've had to raise the the top 2 strings a tad as it was difficult to "pull off". Only minor disappointment is the sustain at the top end of the fret board but the verstaility of the axe is very good. | merlin55
26/9/2010 07:56 | No Ashton, as I recall, we clubbed at least 2 to death with their own drum sticks .... :-) We're trying out another one this PM........... Drummers always overrate (ramp) their abilities, they're much worse at this than even vocalists ... :-)) | merlin55
25/9/2010 20:37 | Ah yes....Stubby Joe. | krakow
25/9/2010 20:01 | I hope your drummers have not all died in freak gardening accidents..... | ashtongray
25/9/2010 16:23 | I've got some Ernie Ball locks for my Stingray (how twee) but I havent got round to trying them out (too many guitars, not enough straps !) I also bought some cheapies off ebay which attach to your existing posts and then twist to lock and these work surpringly well for a couple of quid and only if your starp is particularly thick but I wouldn't trust 'em if you intend to throw your axe over your head etc. Not done much on the gigging front this year (bloody drummers) but I have bought some Mackie SRM450 PA speakers which is the first time I've tried actives. | merlin55
25/9/2010 09:51 | Thanx Wolterix & Krakow. The Dunlop ones I'm looking at are so called "dual design" in which the replacement strap buttons you fix on the guitar itself are designed to the same shape as the original button so you can use a strap as normal if wanted. I've had some near misses and a strap lock is a whole lot cheaper than a headstock break.... | ashtongray
24/9/2010 23:33 | great, green it is, should go nicely with the off white carpet. i'll get it delivered over the weekend. | bamboo2
24/9/2010 23:24 | green is good bamboo.... :) we're usually that palour when the 'meerkat' opens..... | wolterix
24/9/2010 22:52 | ashtongray, when I was gigging I used Schaller strap locks and in a live situation I wouldn't be without them. For seriously animated riff crunching axe slinging poses they're a must. The extra confidence they give you is not to be underestimated. They're especially good if you like to thread the lead through the strap before popping the jack plug in as this can cause an unlocked strap to fail. | krakow |
