Sorry, bamboo2, should have put a ;-) on my Kraftwerk comment - I like anything good, I was just amused that they turned up here.

I'm sure there's a band out there doing accoustic guitar covers of Kraftwerk songs, just about every other quirky interpretation seems to have been invented.

Love Mr Thompson's little grin at the end of "Woodstock"... I've seen him a couple of times live and he is an astonishing player. Lightening fast metal solos are one thing but his complex picking and singing at the same time is something else.

May well be Bamboo :-)

After years of trying to purchase "Urrgh a music war" (which I saw the clip of Klaus doing Total Eclipse on the Old Grey Whistle test many years ago), I was chuffed to find the same clip on You tube. I've got one CD of his entitled "Klaus Nomi" which seems to a compilation album (as I understand it) -It has Cold Song, Lightning Strikes, Simple Man, AFter the Fall, as well as the Witch is Dead.

The live version of Total Eclipse is superior to the studio version IMO

thanks klaus, interesting film! makes me realise how well das boot portrayed the reality. the writer of das boot, buchheim, was anti war, and the story was based on his own experience.

peetle, i'm inclined to the odd off topic from time to time. in my defence i make a keen point of ALWAYS labelling links, so that others may easily avoid anything they think cringeworthy. [and i like some really cringeworthy music i can tell you. !!]

just stumbled across this, what a great tv series and film.

Das Boot - Original Movietheme (1981)

Kraftwerk must be the last band expected to see mentioned in a Guitar thread...

Someone mentioned Glastonbury; probably the best guitar player there this year, or any year, was Richard Thompson:

Have a Brian May Red Special copy that has just been serviced ...my fault , I should have used the magic lemon oil potion myself .
One of those things I put off & nearly paid the price plus the frets were really dirty . Anyway, all back to normal now & plays well (unfortunately, I don't !)
Pick up height adjusted & all that ...well worth it especially as it is a so & so to tune with the tremolo !

Which axe was that IG?, I use lemon oli on mine to clean my necks, and I assume this helps to stop them drying out?

Words of Max's song still ring true today !

Merlin , just had another guitar of mine given a "pro set-up" & re string !
I didn't realise how dry the fret board was ...tut-tut !

Total transformation of "the axe" & worth every penny ...I can't recommend having it done enough
