19/8/2010 02:14 | defo tuner, scarym... you can get 'pitch pipes' but er frankly I've no puff,as I smoke about 40 rolly's a day... if you do have a tuned piano, then obviously that's just as good... but most 'pro's' use a tuner... I have one for my smartphone.. if you seriously want to get a decent one, then Peterson make the best ones I think.. | ![]() wolterix

19/8/2010 02:05 | buy a tuner... there's no shame in it... but it's E A D G B E going from low to high mostly 4th's but a major 3rd between G and B the undoing of all us all...... | ![]() wolterix
19/8/2010 02:02 | maybe this one n'all Shostakovich...this was composed for Stalin, to celebrate Russia 'winning' WWII they nearly shot him... | ![]() wolterix
19/8/2010 02:02 | Hey all, Going to treat myself to a Guild f20 parlour sized accoustic next week. Can't play but want to give it a go. I am a lapsed piano student and want something more 'portable' that I can just pick up and 'have a go'. I notice there are loads of tutorials on youtube so hopefully they will help some. :) How does an inexperienced person tune their own guitar? | scarymonster
19/8/2010 02:00 | Pachebel yawn... no 'disprespeck' y'understand! speaking of Desert Island Dics, as I wasn't, this would be on mine.. Stravinsky, Circus Polka crazy madness! | ![]() wolterix
19/8/2010 01:26 | aw shucks, the Pride of London has got me now fo' sho'.. finished a shedload of work and now am free for the ha ha happy holidays - maybe any 'self-employed' posters can forgive me? this was played at said Goodwood, by infill DJ in between (mediocre I felt, but didn't, as have 2 small kids, get to see the Faces....) live acts did you play this one in your 'Hey DJ' days bamboo? :) - the Faces... Mick Hucknall replacing Rod Stewart??????? as I said didn't see it, but that was the rumour..... shudder.... | ![]() wolterix

19/8/2010 00:15 | and then this one, with Massive Attack, Better Things turned me onto (back onto) her voice, love the kinda Middle Eastern / Bulgarian inflections she pulls off... I got the Mad Professor v Massive Attack 'mash up' version of this album, took me a while to get into it, but it's now one of my favourite albums.. I remember doing an 'all nighter' at work and then putting this on at 5/6 am as dawn was coming up... trippy... let's be honest, if we had the time and the studio equipment he has, we would too, no? I think the snare has a different eq / effect on each and every beat! | ![]() wolterix
19/8/2010 00:09 | I've always mildly hated Everything but the Girl, but we were driving to the Goodwood festival this weekend, and as it was the wife's birthday, she had control of the incarCdplayer.. anyhow, this one 'cut-through'.. can see it now... acoustic version but in truth, I prefer it with the brass, the intro I've always thought is pants, snob that I am, in that it's just some 11'th chords, which always sound a bit cod 'jazzy', but...... the trumpet solo, what there is of it, cuts right through imv, sometimes it's all about the delivery maybe? give it a chance... you be whistling it all week.... :) | ![]() wolterix
