12/3/2018 12:24 | BitCoin Explanation Importance: High A lot of monkeys lived near a village in India. (Well, they do don’t they?) A merchant in the village announced that he will buy monkeys brought to him for $100 each. The villagers thought that this merchant must be mad. Why and how can someone buy stray monkeys for $100? Still, some people caught monkeys, took them to the merchant who gave $100 for every monkey. The news travelled fast and many people set about catching monkeys and selling them to the merchant. After a week, the merchant said that he would now buy monkeys for $200 each. The villagers set about catching the remaining monkeys, and the merchant gave them $200 for each. After another week, the merchant said that he would now offer $500 for each monkey. Well, they were becoming scarcer, weren’t they? The villagers redoubled their efforts and managed to catch six or seven monkeys, which was just about all that were left and got $500 foe each one. The villagers anxiously awaited the merchant’s next announcement, which was that he was going away for two weeks, but on his return would be offering $1,000 for each monkey!! But the villagers were sad that all the monkeys had been caught and so they would not be able to get $1,000 per monkey. But the merchant’s assistant, who had been looking after the monkeys, told the villagers that he would sell the monkeys at $700 each without the merchant knowing. This news spread rapidly. Since the merchant will pay $1,000 for each monkey on his return, there is $300 profit in it for the villagers. The next day there was a queue outside the monkey cage, and the merchant’s assistant sold all the monkeys at $700 each. The rich bought many, whilst the poor borrowed as much money as they could from money-lenders. Everyone settled down to await the merchant’s return. But he didn’t return. The villagers rushed to the merchant’s assistant, but he had disappeared too! The villagers soon realised that what they had done was to buy the useless stray monkeys for $700 each, but were unable to sell them to anyone! The Bitcoin will be the next monkey business. It will make many people bankrupt, and a few very rich | osammyboy2 | |
