9th Jan 2024.

"Is ESRI on the decline" - a look back on 2023 and into 2024, in Chinese. Makes a point of highlighting issues ESRI has to face which they may well do, inc the founder now being 80.

Translated from the Chinese:

"IQGeo – Rising from the remnants of Smallworld, IQGeo provides a platform for those seeking network and asset management solutions.

Focused solutions for utilities. IQGeo's position is expected to rise as ESRI solutions struggle with speed, quality and mobile offerings. Stay tuned for more exciting developments from IQGeo.

The geospatial industry will continue to see the rise of regional players, particularly in Asia."

Just seen the news, its an RNS Reach, already in the forecast?
Good news anyway.

They have AT&T, Cox and possibly Altice already.
Is this likley Frontier or Windstream? My money on Windstream.

Post 966:

I think the win on Jan 4th was Lumen. One of the Lumen Execs, that was also x-Verizon, has moved to Windstream & IQGEO had some input from Windstream recently. Probably another customer win due but perhaps not big enough to announce.

Post 876:

Video magazine with research sponsored by IQGEO.
Very good, top tier names like Vodafone, Verizon etc.

"Building world-class telecom network operations - videos from leaders at @SIRO, Vodafone, Verizon, Frontier Communications, Windstream, Virgin Media and more. View them on our eMagazine "

Another big contract win for IQGeo Group today. When you line up the last few months then things are looking very good for the future.

Jan 24: $2.5m Top 10 US Telecom (new)
Dec 23: $5.4m Tier 1 US Telecom (extension)
Dec 23: $3m Tier 1 US Telecom (new)
Sep 23: €8.6m Tier 1 European Broadband operator (new)
Sep 23: $1.9m Top 5 Global Fibre operator (extension)

Cheers Phil for the mention. I post on Twitter/X about IQG probably more than anyone but to a modest bunch of followers. I always enter IQG in monthly and annual Stock challenges too so that's getting the name out in front of PIs.

I'm 1 of just 2 PIs (from 450) to select IQG in the stockchallenge.co.uk 2024 competition so it remains niche.

Just have a read of the summary. IQGEO address a core need here for network plan/map/build-out as it occurs with full documentation and minimal paperwork/delay, DER integration etc.

Haven't read the book but can immediately see where IQGEO would sit and how flexible the whole suite could be in integrating Network Management along with IoT interfaces as plug-ins delivering data in real-time. What/where/when/how/by-whom. Bring the field into the office during build-out and maintenance and push the office out into the field when outages or network problems occur.

If 2024 is the year existing operational gearing kicks in I think 2025-6 will be the year of the Grid beginning to show up.

Siemens heavily into this and there is/will-be a scramble for capabilities by multiple market participants, hence the potential for an approach to acquire IQGEO and I doubt it will be sub £4.25.

Dyor, I am often wrong.

CTO might want to consider looking to join Forbes Council and illustrate it's all distributed networks of critical infrastructure that need building and managing better, not just Grid, but Grid is probably #1. Without energy distribution we are screwed. IQGEO can be network agnostic with plug-ins or API customisation.

Does this sound familiar? GE can accelerate if they bought IQGEO. Schneider also been looking this way in general via podcast on DERs.

"Tapping into publicly available data and other geospatial information as well as proprietary data from utilities, software today can help provide a digital map of a grid system. The goal of this grid map software would be to "see" potential trouble spots, like where tree limbs may fall onto a power line in a storm.

"Seeing" these troublespots would entail using this digital map, historical and current weather information, vegetation satellite and other information to determine the risk of outages of individual transmission and distribution lines in an area. Utility companies can then prioritize and deploy resources to specific lines in these areas, making more efficient and effective use of their scarce resources."

Right place, right time, right product, right people, right capabilities.
Now exploit the opportunity to deliver value to stakeholders or regret it forever.

Psi, Siemens, Constellation, GE, AVEVA/Schneider +++ quite a few others in Private Equity.

Currently abroad and my notes are back at base.

Wishing you all a good year.

No idea what will pan out but IQG should see the gearing kick-in so it comes down to what multiple the market wants to place on it and growth prospects.

Thanks pf for another year of incredibly helpful contributions and insights.

Thanks also to W13Ken for all your efforts to raise the profile of IQG among PIs.

Let's hope we have at least one more year of value-creation before a bidder surfaces. But if there is to be a bid, who are possible suitors? I'll start off with some of the more obvious ones - Oracle, Tata, CGI, and maybe even Bentley Systems.

Happy and successful New Year to all.

Tsunami in Japan, from what I can find out there are decent sized power outages (35K?) and Hokuriku Electric Power Company covers the area. Hope they adopted IQGEO to help speed up restoration of services along the lines of TEPCO.

"The solution enables public service authorities to effectively monitor and manage their disaster response activities during Japan's frequently severe typhoon, earthquake and tsunami incidents."

Kestrel nibbled a small amount on 22nd Dec 2023, 2024 will see operational gearing kick-in.

Looking over the landscape their are more suitors to IQGEO than appear at first sight and many are more than able to afford an acquisition of the necessary size.

Good news

Mind boggles as to what they might achieve once they have traction in Grid/Utility.

Japan has been quiet of late, no surprise if news lands from there too.

Yep, happy that they're buying again, despite the shareprice reaching 300p.
Charles Stanley Group doubled their stake from 5 to 10% according to yesterday's RNS. Should be an interesting TU around the 12th Jan and we often get news of new contracts leading to results.
IQG was my 2023 tip on Stock challenge sites and it has climbed 61% so far so not too shabby. I see no reason to change my choice for 2024.

£146K of shares bought by Kesteel discretionary at £3. Given Kestrel have a seat on the BoD they must know what's going on and have more info than most.

Looks like largest volume week since early July. So far price has held up so someone is taking the stock. What happens once sales churn is complete and there is the TU, possibly some news and the level of operational leverage shows through in results and not just on paper?

Churn at 300p continues, hopefully done in time for the TU and some further indications of sustainable growth in ARR and market penetration. Someone picked up about £120K worth off a seller at 300p, doubt they did that for 5% upside.

The seller may well be sitting on a large gain or US based and harvesting for end of tax year. If US then likely a date by which they need to complete.

Add to that, they are a small company THROUGH break-even with a massive market to go after. So long as they keep costs sensible there appears a very bright profitable future ahead.

Re-looked at the capital markets day. Howard Chapman, about 21 minutes in

1) Stated the incremental ACV revenue per sales head since 2020.
2) Stated CAGR in sales heads since 2020.
3) Stated intention to maintain similar CAGR increase in sales heads for next 3-5 years with 24% top line revenue heading to sales, 14% to R&D.

Do the maths on the type of sales figure they are targeting (approx) and ALREADY at break-even. They are targeting outsized revenue and profit growth and says so if you put 2 & 2 together whilst already through break-even. Potential for very positive outcomes.

To keep over 70% of shareholders on side they only need talk to 3 groups. Columbia, Charles Stanley and Cannacord. Kestrel and Directors will be aware of everything already as on BoD so no effort needed there.

For the 3, the value of IQGEO is not massively material to their overall operations by the looks of it so barring some major event what is their need to change holdings/sell especially whilst there is outsized growth potential with the chance of an acquirer showing up? Redemptions might cause it?

I see little way for IQGEO to be acquired on the cheap and so long as that 70% remain on side any volatility in price is at the edges, temporary, and an opportunity for others to pick-up the churn to trade the price recovery or to hold. Any new buying only supports the price and we have what should be a very positive TU within about 6 weeks that will gain attention.

Can't remember if this has already been posted but it is worth a re-read. Downloads a PDF with WAPA singing IQGEO praises.

Also, some searching around suggests potentially more Japanese utility interests in outside of TEPCO.
