It’s a 2026-27 investment but for those (including me) waiting for factually positive earnings news this year (July & Sept), I suspect we won’t hear it quite yet.

Sad for a man who dedicated his career to the business he co-founded to leave without seeing the company turning £1 into tangible profits.
I wonder how the company managed to stay afloat for so long, an investor would like to make some money before dying of old age, unless it is an intergenerational investment

Farewell Admiral Nelson OBE (who knew?!)

The Clive Sinclair of semiconductors. Great inventor. Businessman? Not so much.

Methinks few investors will be shedding any tears.

Still, one less overhead to worry about once your - ahem - consultancy period’s over.

Thank you Drew for all those years of service. I'm sure it made you a very wealthy man. IQE now free to become a proper commercial corporation. Onwards and upwards. ?

They ordered two new GaN reactors from them back at the end of ‘22 - early ‘23 , which in theory would be ready to be used in anger around about now…

If there were growing orders, would that not translate into orders for more aixtron reactors? Surely the company could make such announcements if that were the case which would give a clue to how much things were ramping up. So, are we to assume the increase in demand is limited and coverable from current reactors. Don't these reactors take 6 months to calibrate and therefore would we not expect to see this change in anticipation of demand 6-12 months down the track?

crosswires - sadly, it's a common ploy for companies to trot out the old NDA excuse as a smokescreen.

As you say, there'd always be creative ways round this if news were good - e.g. a ballpark sales forecast for each new contract win, even if they can't reveal the party involved.

If sales partners insist on NDAs that preclude revealing any sales figures as well as company names, you have to ask why not just push back? There again, I don't think IQE has had the best sales force to date. So they probably leap at any new win, agreeing to pretty much any terms. Which might also help to explain why the margin's so poor.

I have sent some questions, as I did last time, one got answered last time, but of course what we really want is to see a July TU, because if another 6 months slips by without meaningful revenue growth then one has to ask, how is the world demand for ever more compound semiconductors not adding up to a ramp in IQE revenue and what will be different in 12 months time?

I understand when we ask Americo about contracts and announcements that they hide somewhat behind “NDAs” but perhaps the conclusion is there are no large new contracts to report. Anyways i’m sure they could circumvent NDAs by being a bit wishy washy about where the revenue is coming from…

Sally good point. Americo has his skin in the game though. Would love him showing up with more share purchases... If the current share price is in a bargain region

Q. Why do you think (given the commitment to 3x revenue and 30% margins by 2027) that very few people who work for IQE are buying shares? Does this mean the vision internally is not shared or are they paid poorly so can’t take advantage of the current share price?
A…

FWIW these are the questions I am sending IQE to be answered at the IQE AGM next week.
Like last year I am finding it impossible to get my unique shareholder reference number from Barclays so will watch tge recorded version but i hope ( and expect) they answer my queries.

1 Please can you tell investors whether IQE will hold another CMD this year? The October 2022 CMD was very informative, I think it should be repeated

2 At the Q&A of the earnings report webcast and in answer to the 2nd question from Deutche Numis about IQE’s relationship with AWSC you talked about the diversification strategy relating to customer base and product mix you talked about the success of the partnership with AWSC and the LANSUS ANNOUNCEMENT but you also stated and I quote “There are MANY MORE partnerships in the pipeline” CAN YOU PLEASE EXPAND ON THAT LAST COMMENT and confirm that further as yet unannounced partnerships are still in the pipeline or are signed but not announced?

3 Can you please state the TAM and SAM for the GAN power and Microleds markets that IQE is targeting

4 investors are confused that the CEO continues to state that 5/6G, AI and ML are dependent on compound semiconductors, however we are seeing few announcements that would indicate revenues are increasing, how do you square the circle?

5 what is the biggest opportunity for IQE- is it GANon silicon or GAN on silicon carbide

6 Is IQE still in a working relationship with Bluglass?

7 Given that IQE has to pay Silex (Translucent) $400k every year ( and royalty payments if any are ever generated) relating to the ‘shelved’; cREO technology it was developing in March 2022, has IQE plans to use this technology and license in the future or will it be a perpetual drain on resources?

“IQE says it will retain the technology, capability and IP enabling redeployment if and when appropriate.”

Is it now appropriate if not, will it ever be?

8 Whilst being very supportive of the incentivising senior management and staff can you please explain why the terms of the 2024 LTIP had not been decided by the time that the annual report was published in May? Surely the ‘targets’; to be met in 2024 should be set out early in the year? My concerns are surely obvious without stating them.

We don’t know whether IQE can capitalise yet.

And in light of its previous false dawns, investors are no longer prepared to give the company the benefit of the doubt. Hence the current retreating share price on the back of no game-changing news.

When the share re-rated after April’s results & lacklustre outlook statement, I expressed surprise & doubted the rise would be sustainable. That now appears to be the case - at least until we get the Interims in September.

My hunch is that within the next year the share price will be materially higher than now. But equally, over the next 3 months, I fully expect it to drift down. The low 20p area wouldn’t surprise me at all.

If IQE can't capitalize in the midst of chips and AI craze, then when? It is evident that Silicon based semiconductors will dominate the market.
Perhaps GaN will be one of those technologies with huge potential but disregarded and forgotten.

Yeah this is disappointing weak price action, bad end to the week. People can post all they want about the future of GaN or the rise of AI, but none of it matters unless it is shown to drop to IQEs bottom line.

Sadly it doesn’t really matter what marketing IQE do, and how many conferences they attend, if they don’t show us the money rolling in, nothing will catapult the share price forward after our recent recovery. The semi index keeps creating all time highs but shows how disconnected IQE is from that.

I thought IQE’s collaboration with Australian company Bluglass had ended when IQE shelved its development of cREO (( although still paying a perpetual annual license fee of $400k to Translucent)

I may have been wrong? Who knows? Bluglass are certainly making progress in GAN technology which is where it all seems to be for us

Anyhow what got me wondering was this ( round table also features IQE customer Macom)

BluGlass and ShareCafe present an expert roundtable on the role of gallium nitride semiconductors in transforming global technology capabilities

US tech shares up big time following Apple AI news, many of them are IQE customers who are expected to benefit. Could bode well for us.
