His past record seems pretty solid before ARM to me, and looks like a great appointmenent to me but of course if you have an ulterior motive to talk it down then of course that is your right to do so. Either way it seems you (SH) have for the first time in many months posted multiple times in a short timeframe which must mean something I guess.

Look at those shorters burn! They'll all have closed out by tea and we'll be at 220p before you know it.

To be fair, now would be a good time for the Rampmeister General to return and rally the troops.

Tom, you've had one morning of changing sentiment. Give it a few days. Lol

SufferNoFools, that used to be true, but they're finding it as hard as anyone to recruit high calibre execs. People like the failed head of the GPU group who was sacked and ended up at IMG are a case in point. Few more short lived exec roles I know of too.

I'm sure he's a decent CFO but he doesn't have the record I would have liked and clamouring that just because he's worked at ARM means he's any good is ingenuous at best. Case in point, would I employ myself, hell no. :-)

Richard yes Sheepherder was sure of his plan! I did ask him that sentiment may change and then the shorts may close, however he is very sure of himself so assume he knows more than the rest of us about the future share price #tealeaves ;)

I’ve added more anyways

Remember guys Sheepherder sold out so does not want the share price to rise much until he buys back next year (his words)

SheepyWe can see who he is :) - you don't get the ARM gig unless you're of a certain calibre.

Ipavlou:

You make a good point. It is very important (to us) to have a CFO highly motivated to increase the company's market cap.

Why is everyone getting excited about Tim Pullen? He's not the ARM CFO that took them through to the SoftBank takeover! They was a different Tim. This Tim seems to have a very short employment history.

Not saying he's not appropriate for the role but hardly a big hitter.

Appointment has exceeded my expectations. Must be in a great package and hope most of it is share options.

Wow that is some appointment! Brilliant coup on the part of IQE Board. Both industry and investor credibility of the very highest order. Superb.Just goes to show the numpties on here that getting the RIGHT person is far more important than appeasing the short term demands of 'investors' Adejuk - maybe take the thumbs down as a hint that your views are both ill-informed and not wanted here? So maybe take them somewhere else - There's a good chap :)

Pico, you went off on a bit of a tangent then regarding Apple. What I was trying to get you to consider was the technology aspect.

The companies Apple tend to purchase are in sectors where they already have the skill sets. Apple design chips which is why they've bought firms like Dialog, PA Semi and Intrinsity. They do also purchase smaller tech firms where they see a way of bringing in new technology quickly and taking their IP in house. IQE doesn't fit either of those profiles.

Secondly, if you had done the research I suggested, you would realise that producing wafers is a long way away from producing finished optical chips. The amount of capex needed to expand into that space would be significant. The new skill sets, equipment, fab space etc. It's a whole new business and not just an easy addition to what they currently do.

They are focused on producing the best wafers in the industry and expanding that line into the new Newport space. Changing the business model now to try to move into the manufacture and packaging of finished chips would be a very strange choice.

Great appointment; consummate CFO, you couldn't hope to find someone with a more relevant background.

Can see the sun coming up on the horizon now in 2019.

That looks like a fine appointment. Just hope it doesn't bring Crunk back....

Perhaps not everyone's cup of tea, but as a customer of IQE, this may be a new revenue stream about to take off?

As previously expressed fellow investors, it takes time to appoint the right person, particularly a CFO. You do not get this Calibre of candidate off the shelf in Sainsbury's. Taking their time, due diligence, I ask was it worth the wait??? Happy days. Another star into alignment IMO, and IQE also performed well considering the market correction last week. Lovely news :o)
