11/10/2018 22:15 | Where is thon boy sweenoid by the way? | volsung
11/10/2018 22:15 | See that Finisar have 22 vacancies for their new plant in Sherman and quite open what their VCSELs are being used for"Join the team as we build and start manufacturing in our new facility in Sherman, Texas where we will produce vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) used in Apple's iPhone camera to allow features such as Face ID, Animoji and Portrait mode selfies. What are VCSELs? It's an acronym that is pronounced "vixels" they are small semiconductor devices that emit light vertically and enable 3D sensing. " | lpavlou
11/10/2018 22:14 | In my opinion the demand for iphones and ipads could be met with the current market supplies but Apple's upcoming innovations and ventures in the auto industry would need large supplies It makes sense now what Dr. Drew has been brewing by investing in plant and equipment. I think Doc is working towards topline numbers rather than looking for a man who would account these numbers. Lastly as Doc said IQE is not a one trick pony so lets hope we get more big fishes on the deck. | mhassanriaz
11/10/2018 20:57 | Ipavlou: My sentiments entirely. In my view they see general weakness as a golden opportunity to close and have probably been waiting for this long expected US sell-off. I think we will see further upward movement in the share price as more close and a significant reduction in the short positions in the next few days. | bocase
11/10/2018 20:48 | Today's price increase doesn't make sense unless the shorts were closing. They probably think the bottom is near and the risk of holding on for 65p is not worth the risk of the share price going back to 1.00.We'll know in a few days. | lpavlou
11/10/2018 20:24 | Interesting that one maxwell. Of course "producing your own VCSEL's" does not necessarily mean making your own wafers or digging your own raw materials out of the ground. IQE is certainly continuing to increase capacity so hopefully there will be sufficient to supply the VCSEL makers (or Apple themselves). "massive" VCSEL demand from 2019 sounds quite encouraging anyway! | kazoom
11/10/2018 19:50 | Here is a rather odd article on VCSELs (Drama??); .........Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) continues to insist VCSEL demand will be "massive" in 2019 and 2020, and talks of internally developing VCSEL appears to be a "negotiating tactic at this point." Apple has looked into fabrication in Taiwan and could produce its own VCSEL in 2020 or 2021 if its current suppliers don't increase production to meet demand.............. | maxwellsdemon
11/10/2018 17:31 | Funny day. IQE is my only blue stock - up 2.5%. My others are all don 2 to 5%. Possibly OT now..or maybe not, but we need some optimism. :-) When I moved house I had one patio door key, Timpsosn made a copy, didn't work, so they cut 3 more (presumably subtley different) and none worked. Went to proper locksmith shop for duplicate made by older geezer in brown overalls and lots of pens in top pocket, the real McCoy, ditto, didn't work, so gave up. This week my local B&Q had what looks like a coffee machine but duplicates keys, 1 for £5 or 3 for £10. I thought I would have fun for £5 and test machine against man. It was all automated, putting key in little door, where it scans, dentist noises then voila it throws out a shiny new key. ...and the litmus test?? It works!! I am guessing it uses 3D technology similar to face ID. OK, one machine in each B&Q ain't same as in every smartphone, but it demonstrates real world adoption of this new technology is getting out there. They must have been working on the design atleast 1 year ago. Or maybe the dear departed Ronnie Corbett has come back as a ghost and whittling away inside! ;-) Dave | dr_smith
11/10/2018 16:40 | Ditto adejuk! | tini5
11/10/2018 16:39 | hope springs eternal bo ! | adejuk
11/10/2018 16:36 | Nice day. Obviously cheap as chips under 80p! Seriously though, I think this is a turning point with shorts deciding to use the general weakness to close as it may not get a lot better (for them). With a more normal level of short positions I think we will see a return to more normal trading and an end to the repeated falls. | bocase
11/10/2018 15:49 | ashley, richard? | adejuk
11/10/2018 15:48 | there's a first the only blue on my monitor | adejuk
11/10/2018 15:15 | As stated earlier today markets will rebound and Sp will be seen in 90s very soon. | mhassanriaz
11/10/2018 14:56 | It would not surprise me if we see shorts drop below 8% soon, I actually think IQE has held up well during this scary week, if this is not a great entry point then my name is surely Shirley... | richardc77
11/10/2018 14:10 | Nothing surprises me. Everything I see is positive yet the share reaches ever more depths. Lumentum news is a case in point. | boboty
11/10/2018 13:53 | JPMorgan updated Lumentum to overweight this morning citing 5g investment ramp and 3D sensing, per SeekingAlpha. Roll on December update.... | beermat1
11/10/2018 13:47 | Significant buying in the last hour. Shorts taking advantage of the market weakness to close while they can I would not be surprised to see the US markets turn very positive this afternoon. I suspect that is what the shorts are thinking too.It will be interesting to see if the total shorts have significantly reduced in a couple of days. I bet they have. | bocase
11/10/2018 13:33 | The bond yield curve has been out of step for two years. Why is that? | horneblower
11/10/2018 13:20 | No answers? Standard on these perma-bull infested bb's :)Good luck with your positions. | suffersnofools
11/10/2018 13:19 | SnF. During the period YOU quoted, the index went down 40%. Have you looked? | horneblower
11/10/2018 12:22 | It was quoted between 2001 and 2003 - performance wasn't so good - take a look. Sorry but sideways is nonsense. In terms of economic growth yes, and that makes the financial markets increase since the banking crisis even more ridiculous. Do you think 700 percent in less than 10 years on the Nasdaq is sideways? Do you know the current average PE multiple for the Nasdaq and S&P? How does that compare to the historical average? Have you looked at the bond yield curve? What does that imply for bond yields and forecast interest rates over the next ten years? I've worked in trading tech and equity derivatives all my professional life. Why is the net outflow of capital from institutions currently the highest since 2008? What will the effect of HFT and Autonomous Algo bots bring to a crash scenario? The most frightening aspect is that in previous recessions their were fiscal and monetary tools such as rate decreases and QE to save the day. No such safety net this time given rates already near zero and government debt is already off the charts. And we have a bubble in almost EVERY asset class so nowhere to rotate capital into. My money is now in commodities as that will be the haven imo. Lots of silver in my bunker :)Anyhow maybe I'm wrong and the Dow won't go sub 10k and uk house prices won't drop 50% - GLA :) | suffersnofools
11/10/2018 11:35 | SnF. As I presume you know, IQE wasn't a public company during the years I quoted. However, the Dow fell 40% in the years you quote...having risen 1,250% in the previous 17 years! You say we are in the longest bull cycle. In fact the world went sideways between 2000 and 2016. We are in a strongly rising 17 year cycle that only began about 2 years ago. There will be crashes but mostly it will be up, up, up. | horneblower
11/10/2018 11:01 | Having said all that I'm holding here (albeit much reduced) with a 3-5 year view and will be more than happy to add if we get a nice juicy crash.......and of course this could be VRS - quite a comedy of deluded bulls on that BB today. | suffersnofools
11/10/2018 10:51 | Horneblower - How did IQE share price perform after your 1994 tech revolution between 2001 and 2003?I'm an IQE holder btw - the longest on this BB to my knowledge and made my money. Do you believe that markets go up forever and 10 year bull markets and 700 pc gains on the Nasdaq are sustainable? | suffersnofools |
