Wendy. By your own admission, from your previous posts, you are new to investing. If you are looking for a quick return, that is gambling not investing. Give the management time to do their job and the company time to grow and you will be rewarded.

The real money is made by the power of compounding over time. Take the wise advice of many seasoned and experienced investors on this board. If you think you can predict the short term share price movements you will lose money

You obviously invested in IQE for a reason and nothing has changed except the reason to invest is even more compelling.

A takeover at that level is better than selling now

If you believe what you say, what are you doing investing?

Wendybatt:

A takeover at this level might come at about 120p. Do you really think that realisesthe potential of IQE. If you do then what are you doing investing?

The definition of a growth company is a company that is growing.

Not a company that keeps promising 'jam tomorrow'.

Of course it applies. What economy grows at 35% per annum as IQE profits will

LOL

Note the use of the word 'will'!

That's how suckers get caught.

'I'm a Nigerian Prince - I need £10,000 to pay a fee to release my fortune.
Send me £10,000 now and I WILL pay you triple back next week.'

You know it makes sense.

Every scam in history was based on suckers believing in the word WILL.

Hope IQE think seriously about accepting a potential forthcoming bid for the Company. It would be in their longer term best interests.

posters on this thread have a different definition of 'growth company' than everyone else.

From Investopedia: "A growth company is any company whose business generates significant positive cash flows or earnings, which increase at significantly faster rates than the overall economy."

Hardly applies here!

Won’t happen. Share prices of healthy profitable growth companies always turnaround, even though if it feels they may not. I have total faith and a big holding.

Let's face it, the current board are not market players nor business men and they can still be hired to run the business by their new owners

Takeover is not the best option, nor I believe likely, patience is the key, 6-12 months not weeks though.

Interesting but it seems to me that shorting can work through some straighforward maths: If you sell a large number of shares when the trading volumes are low your sale could represent a significant % of the trading volume and thus drive the price down. If you then buy back the shares when trading volumes are high (or buy back in small chunks) then your purchase would represent a smaller % of the trading volume and thus not exert such upward pressure on price as the original sale exerted downward pressure. If you have a big enough bank balance, or several companies follow a similar strategy, then over many trades I would expect the price to fall more than it rises aided by holders of shares bailing out as they see the price dropping.

Am I missing something?

Facial recognition in cars would be great added security. "No son, you can't borrow the car" (as Dad remotely revokes son's access to the vehicle via smartphone)
