Unbelievable how shorters control the share price pushing it down in the last 15 mins of the day.

I'm not for one moment suggesting that IQE's CEO starts 'twittering', but VRS's 'boss' does answer many questions [by that method], put by PI's and it seems to be paying dividends. PI's over there are obviously pleased that their questions are not falling on deaf ears. Even if the subject is as boring as 'shorting'. Here is a sample:

Think the fca are going to be more interested in the number of short positions opened on Friday to be honest judging by arvfn (sic), I don't agree with shorting, ie borrowing stock that may or may not appear but you are all grown ups -End-

It would be encouraging if our lot just said, "We haven't gone away".

I think the nomad and broker have not served the company well; though you never know -the company may have ignored advice.

It a bit like your predictable seven posts about everyone talking about shorters on this BB. What will your 8th post be about I wonder??

If only the share price was as predictable as the chat on this page wed all be millionaires off the back of IQE. Daily comments re shorters so monotonous. Anyway im off for an APPLE, oh that reminds me!!!

In my opinion there will be tree shakes galore for a few weeks ..... don't panic.
Those who got more in low 80's will reap a 50% mark-up in a no time ... GL

Their paper profits will evaporate when they start to sell in bulk. It’s all an illusion. The only winners in the end will be the banks/investment/hedge funds who rented their shares out to the short sellers. Iqe has lost out by having to use more shares to buy the ip last week they have also lost some credibility; the normal share holders will have lost sleep with worry - though they should if they hang on get their money out and more in the end; the short sellers will, I believe, be the biggest losers as the share price rockets when they try to exit.

The end game is the battle between shorts to exit the building .. Baskets!!!
But good news when it gets tricky for them ... lol

So T Rowe have been busy buying up more shares, whilst increasing the name out on loan. Interesting though that they are only lending 5.85% of the share so I wonder who else is loaning out their shares.

I wouldn't say an upward trend has been triggered yet.
This current bounce should take us to 87p. Then we'll see.

upward trend triggered?? Valiant and Wellington close your short. The real value of share is above 1.20p and we will get there very soon.

I agree. Marshall Wace were the other biggy but they've almost closed out now.

9-10% of those reportable - how many shorters under the threshold? It's clear that if a Company has a huge number of reportable shorts, it also has a large following of retail shorters under the limit. However, if the retail shorters start seeing the big boys disappearing, then they get nervous and start doing likewise. That's what happens in my experience of highly shorted companies and I've been invested in a fair few. And once the big boys go, then the price starts to recover.

Sentiment is more important to move the price than the number of shorts. We were at 9 - 10% shorts when the price was £1.70 in December.

Sentiment is low and IQE’s stoic culture remains.

Marshall Wace reduced their short by another 0.1% on the 25th. Total reported shorts now 10.22%. Heading in the right direction now!
