Facial recognition in cars would be great added security. "No son, you can't borrow the car" (as Dad remotely revokes son's access to the vehicle via smartphone)

Facial recognition will be so widely used in a few years you won’t quite believe it. This is only the start.

Regasclockwork. Your post was completely fatuous and maligns the Sweeney who was the most ticked up poster on the ii board. You clearly are from the cut ,paste and misrepresent brigade.

Sweenoid has resurrected as superg1 on VRS BB.

The only part of the conspiracy I cannot figure out was that he once said he would never touch VRS. Perhaps it was reverse psuchology

Some punters on here are still asking when Sweeney will return and mentioning GAN and cREO as if were something new. Well, Sweeney will almost certainly return when 'The Price is Right' and here is a little blast-from-the-past, from 'The Messiah' himself.

If you read his report in full, then you'll see how posts like this [can't knock it], very much helped drive IQE's share price to the dizzy height of 181.5p.

If you're going to read this in the toilet, put your boxing gloves on first - it's that convincing. And, it could get you pressing that 'BUY' button before you've pulled the chain.

I'm just going to post the first and last couple of sentences to give you a taster of things to come [25-thumbs-up including mine].

The share price was 170p on the day of this post, having fallen from 181.5p a week earlier. Panic was setting in and punters were looking for some reassurance that the floor had been reached. No better man to ask than Sweeney himself. It's a big read, but worth it. First, my edited start & finish. read on:

Just a few thoughts before I disappear AGAIN. IQE made the point in the half- year presentation that the CS ( compound Semiconductors) market is at an INFLECTION point , I maintain that's a pivotal statement going forward, if it's true, amazing things are going to start to happen, and just like the VCSEL story, when it happens, it will happen quickly.

And to finish:

Both have as yet undiscovered brilliance- we have solar, GAN power and RF GAN and cREO in the wings, waiting to be subs, then gaining a 1st team place.

Loving the share price action, never believed it would be maintaining this prior to IMS, having said that, why on earth would anyone want to sell NOW when good news awaits? ;-), cheap as chips under 180p.( imho)

Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock. S -End-

I almost feel like topping-up myself [or topping myself?] after re-reading that, but unfortunately, the market is now closed. But, tomorrow is another day. GLA!

Odey has popped up on today's shorttracker with a 0.5% short, from Fridays share action. A bit late to the action unless just helping out some of his other shorter mates. Honour amongst thieves and all that!!

It's a difficult call knowing when to top up, if you look at the chart the recent bump up looks like another step on the way down.

However, trying to look at things more positively so took some at 81 and then 80.8.

The tech is sound and whilst the management may not be particularly verbose, still have a strong belief that IQE is a great tech company in the making.

"Are we finally turning a corner here? Certainly hope so." -End-

I think we all hope so. After 5 losing days in a row, we had a BLUE day last Thursday, but then it was back in the red on Friday.

That enabled us to set a new 5-week losing streak which saw the share price drop from 104p to 82p, down 22p. And to cap it all, we hit a new low of 79p.

Whatever, we're off to a blistering start this morning. Hoverflyman[good bloke] said last Thursday, "Couldn't resist either and invested modest £7,000 at 81p - now ready to hibernate".

I thought about investing a modest £1,000 at the same price, but my wife was standing behind me with a cast iron frying pan in her hand, so I resisted the temptation. Like HFM, I thought about hibernating, but I don't want to miss the HUGE BOUNCE that could be 'just around the corner'? GLA!

Agree with Peel H - very little in IQE's current valuation for next generation and mass market applications for GaN-Si and CReo.

In the absence of news, shorters will likely attempt another drive down, but they're having their work cut out. PIs can see the game being played out many will be looking to down-average their positions should the price sink any lower.

We could drop to sub 70p before the end of Oct and just as easily recover back to £1-1.10+ before xmas such is the manipulation here.

Cheap stock will be hard to come by for shorters. The share price may be drip dropping and seeding doubt, but again, they lack a narrative. By the end of Oct the FY will now be pretty firm. No news = good news.

Although this stuff is too technical for me to really understand, The IQE purchase of the cREO technology & IP, after developing it for the last 3 years and the conditions of the purchase, which are significant considering this stuff is still not generating any revenue - IQE must be pretty confident that this will be a "game-changer" over the next few years. Good that they stopped the IP / technology from getting into the hands of the competition.

This is one for the future. GaN will be the next big hit for us.STMicroelectronics and Leti to co-develop GaN-on-Si diode and transistor architectures for power conversion applicationsSTMicroelectronics of Geneva, Switzerland and micro/nanotechnology R&D center CEA-Leti of Grenoble, France are cooperating to develop and industrialize gallium nitride-on-silicon (GaN-on-Si) technologies for power switching devices, whch will enable ST to address high-efficiency, high-power applications, including automotive on-board chargers for hybrid and electric vehicles (HEVs/EVs), wireless charging, and servers. The collaboration focuses on developing and qualifying power GaN-on-Si diode and transistor architectures on 200mm wafers, a market that research firm IHS Markit forecasts will rise at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of more than 20% from 2019 to 2024.In the framework of Grenoble-based Technological Research Institute Nanoelec (IRT Nanoelec) - an R&D consortium headed by CEA-Leti focused on information and communication technologies (ICT) using micro- and nanoelectronics - ST and Leti are co-developing the process technology on Leti's 200mm R&D line and expect to have validated engineering samples in 2019. In parallel, ST will set up a fully qualified manufacturing line, including GaN/Si hetero-epitaxy, for initial production running in ST's front-end wafer fab in Tours, France, by 2020.In addition, given the attractiveness of GaN-on-Si technology for power applications, Leti and ST are assessing advanced techniques to improve device packaging for the assembly of high-power-density power modules."Recognizing the incredible value of wide-bandgap semiconductors, ST's contributions in power GaN-on-Si manufacturing and packaging technologies with CEA-Leti move to arm us with the industry's most complete portfolio of GaN and SiC products and capabilities, on top of our proven competence to manufacture high-quality, reliable products in volume," says Marco Monti, president of STMicroelectronics' Automotive and Discrete Group."Leveraging Leti's 200mm generic platform, Leti's team is fully committed to supporting ST's strategic GaN-on-Si power-electronics roadmap and is ready to transfer the technology onto ST's dedicated GaN-on-Si manufacturing line in Tours," says Leti's CEO Emmanuel Sabonnadiere. "This co-development, involving teams from both sides, leverages the IRT Nanoelec framework program to broaden the required expertise and innovate from the start at device and system levels," he adds.In February, ST also announced another development of GaN-on-Si for RF applications with MACOM Technology Solutions Holdings Inc of Lowell, MA, USA (which makes semiconductors, components and subassemblies for RF, microwave, millimeter-wave and lightwave applications), for MACOM's use across a broad range of RF applications and for ST's own use in non-telecom markets. The RF GaN-on-Si is – for now, at least – better suited to 150mm wafers. Because they produce low switching losses, GaN technologies suit higher-frequency applications.Expect range revenue to ramp up in 2020.
