PI, specifically. A number of times. They note that they "believe" the multiple contracts for VCSEL wafers "relate to 3D sensing opportunities, most notably in the 10th anniversary iPhone", and subsequent comments indicate that this is a given.

Reading N+1 Singer's new note, which increased their target price to 147p, I was struck that they confidently say not only that their forecasts were conservative, but also that there are "multiple additional near-term opportunities outside of Apple on the horizon".

And that there are "3D sensing opportunities on a range of other products as well" as the new iPhone. And that "significant upgrades" could also arrive via (1) GaN on silicon with MACOM and (2) the "full service DSB opportunity".

Leaks of the ios firmware found in the Apple "homepod" device, confirms that some new iphones will include face detection software.



"Elsewhere in the HomePod code are hints at ARKit and Photos integration with the rumored 3D-sensing FaceTime camera. Developer Guilherme Rambo found strings related to the detection of facial expressions and features like smiles, frowns, puckers and dimples."

Interesting to re-read the IQE PR about the parasitic channel that you and sweenoid were discussing a few days ago. IQE's statement is quite emphatic isn't it?:


"Using its patented technology, IQE has demonstrated that the parasitic channel can be completely eliminated."


The final link (the joint Qorvo/Cornell University paper "the pathway to power switching efficiency") is recommended reading for any IQE shareholder. Even though from October 2015, it really does set the scene.
