28/7/2017 16:39 | Big7ime: Maybe the directors realise that by selling they may trigger more short term selling and provoke a situation whereby they can re-invest at a lower price. We are talking about 6.8m shares here where each penny is worth £68 000 so maybe they know what they are doing. It is interesting though that the shares were sold, obviously to an institution at 6p below market price. You can bet that those shares (or some of them) have just been sold by the institutions at a nice 4p profit hence the pullback we have just seen. | bocase
28/7/2017 16:34 | they know the figures? | toptrump1
28/7/2017 16:31 | In my limited (40 years) trading experience it is more dangerous to get out even though a short term pull back can be expected as getting back in maybe at a much higher price. How many on this board regret selling lower down only to pay more to re-establish the position. Traders trade but savvy investors hold tight and this is definitely one to hold. | bocase

28/7/2017 16:24 | * Short-term double top alert * You've been warned. | american idiot
28/7/2017 16:22 | directors sold few | toptrump1
28/7/2017 16:03 | Don't be daft, read the RNS properly. | tini5
28/7/2017 15:13 | The COO and the CFO sold some recently, now the CEO and Chairman have sold some ( at a much more attractive price) . ALL have committed themselves to not selling anymore in the immediate future. I like the wording of the RNS- the 'issue' of the loan which enabled the CEO a share purchase AND to enable him to loan significant amounts to the CFO in order for HIM to buy shares was in retrospect an incredible deal for them - they bought the shares at about 12p, when the share price was at the bottom and sentiment was awful. In part I believe those shares were bought to signify their confidence in the company when sentiment was at its low, confidence in the investing community was poor, it showed great foresight and was not done without risk, but as we all know many viewed it negatively- I never understood that.Since when has buying shares by senior management with a loan been a bad idea, all they are doing now is taking some well earned profit and in the case of the CEO , repaying the capital, managing his future retirement and having a few treats :-) I congratulate these guys on their profits, their retained holdings and their commitment to the company. 28/7/2017 15:12 | :-) we were only mentioning director sales over lunch yesterday. Reassuring that there isn't the type of jealous grizzling there has been in the past. It's amazing what a bit of share price success does. | hammerd2
28/7/2017 15:10 | Hi Skinny, re charts, just looked aback at your posts, thanks. I skipped quite a few when the bb and I were busy! Look forward to discussing further in future. | bamboo2
28/7/2017 15:09 | Yes, I think its wise of the senior management to give such a detailed explanation for their sales. | davebowler
28/7/2017 15:02 | From Macom today: "Macom Sees Gold In Mining The Silver Linings Of Data Clouds PATRICK SEITZ 8:12 AM ET Macom Technology Solutions (MTSI) believes that clouds have silver linings — and it intends to mine them. The Lowell, Mass.-based chipmaker sees an enormous opportunity to supply internet cloud data centers with semiconductor systems to support ever-faster networking capability. Macom Chief Executive John Croteau touted his company's potential to gain business from data-center customers during a recent conference call with analysts, calling them a "predictable, high-value growth driver for the company for many years to come." "Personally I haven't seen such a breakout in our part of the industry since the advent of digital handsets and smartphones decades ago," Croteau said during the April call. "It's shaping up to be that big." etc" | rivaldo
28/7/2017 14:43 | I reckon they deserve it. They've done a stonking job | gersemi
28/7/2017 14:42 | Quite like that they explain why they have sold... | darola
28/7/2017 14:21 | 4 x 3.8p = 15.2p 15p EPS x 25 (High growth stock) = 375p. | someuwin
28/7/2017 13:45 | I'm pretty sure no NDA would include the caveat "unless it's a city analyst". They should post the CC for PIs even if it's a day or 2 later. Not just a criticism of IQE. | poombear
28/7/2017 13:24 | Go to it ! It's unbelievable that they would use NDAs as an excuse as they shouldn't be naming the customers involved anywhere - let alone/especially to a bunch of City analysts ! | hammerd2
28/7/2017 12:49 | Yep, I prefer the quiet, NOISE without content is just so boring Anyhow, next week we will have some customer news Tuesday 9pm Malcom report- comments on progress with their GAN on silicon proposition that is the partnership with IQE, particularly in the MMIC field and progress with RF power in base station provision. As Sheepherder and I keep harping on RF power has massive potential, I have to say that it's been slow going, and I expected things to be at a more advanced situation in 2017, it IS going to be huge for IQE but it's frustrating , however like the VCSEL business, when it takes off it's going to explode....and few know, realise or have positioned themselves for the earnings impact it will have here ( we all have though :-)) On Wednesday, our current 2nd biggest customer reports- Qorvo, as does Oclaro, these 2 companies are big plays in our propositions for wireless and photonics. The most interesting earnings report will come 1 week later on the 9th when Lumentum report. Lumentum look like certainties to be the number 1 manufacturer of 3 D sensing modules for the new iPhone and then it's me-too copiers. Their comments on production of the VCSEL modules up to June 30 will be interesting, but far more illuminating for us will be their forward looking statement- since US companies report quarterly, they usually only comment that far ahead, that is up to end of September, but I would not be surprised if even under Apples NDA the CEO does not paint a very optimistic picture of business for 3D sensing for the future and beyond :-) the on of course we will eventually get to IQE's full interim earnings report on 5th September, I will bypass the figures quickly and move straight to the 'segment' story and dissect the comments carefully. Of course we can then all make our minds up about the future based on the comments, but perhaps more important will be the language used and answers given at the analyst CC IQE have despite my repeated requests refused to issue a transcript of the CC or record an audio, this is just not good enough-they cite NDA's and technical issues-again not good enough!, in today's day and age audio recordings of analysts CC should be an obligation, I shall once more be making requests for this to happen.
