Hi Bog, tried to find out how long it took tesla to develop the battery for their car but it appears that they use a large number of slightly modified other wise normal batteries. Anyway it still took a couple of years from a well known start point. If lithium iodine batteries do actually catch on and the same path is followed then we will at some point have smart phones that last more than a day and thinner laptops then once the technology is well known EV's. I think this development will take years, at least a couple before there is any significant additional demand for iodine. Just my thoughts, how do you see it's development?

Who said oil?

Another report form the Bakken today re someone there, the 3 forks has increased their reserve estimates 39 MMBOE to 136 MMBOE.

drill locations up to 330 from 145.

Pre the 3 forks they were predicting 30,000 to 50,000 wells in the area.

Oasis say they have 6000 drill locations for 500k acres. The ND Bakken is 11.5 million acres, 23 times that.

An interesting one from continental and mentions 'megapads' for drilling 30 wells at each one.

1.2 million acres held, reserves up and expected to go higher. Talk of freshwater pipelines to such pads.

In Mid May 2013 you could have paid £3800 to read the roskill report on the iodine market and froecasts.

They were working off earlier details of what SQM and others were saying.

"Supply of crude iodine is expected to be more than sufficient to meet forecast
demand. The main reason for this is the recent increases in Chilean capacity by companies such as sQM, ACf Minera, sirocco and sCM bullmine."

That was a view to 2017 with 3.5% growth each year.

SQM were claiming they would go to 14,500 metric on the move which was supposed to have started this year, current rate about 6000mt less than that.

Sirocco were supposed to be heading for 2000 mt plus this year, they are producing 1000mt less than that.

ACF minera is linked to Algorta, their max is said to be 6000mt combined, but at the AGM it was said they have pulled back. It was also said Bullmine have stopped, they is no evidence I can find of that just yet.

Cosayach joined in but just got knocked back.

The actual now is far different to what roskill thought would be happening.

Over the last 18 months the private iodine producers in Chile were chirping away last year making bold claims. It's been virtually silent this year. Ioditech seem to have stopped doing news reports too.

Chile are now at the start of winter which is when production is affected by the cold and thus costs go up.

Hey Graham,

It was Arron's company, so any sacking was designed.

Bit like this... eh?
