17/6/2014 08:34 | Sinclair sounds interesting, will have a look. At the moment like peartree I think Obtala has some way to go, especially after the rns yesterday and valuations. The type of share the market ignores due to the business and location. I met the team though and they are as passionate as any I have met re their business. I note Share prophets talk of more imminent news. I also feel paragon (Obt large Shareholders) will see their financing sorted after their recent report on resources too. Both look set to soar but OBT the safer bet. | superg1
17/6/2014 08:31 | Can SQM ramp up production if needed from Nueva Victoria and Pedro do Valdivia? Is there a water issue at those sites? | chumbo
17/6/2014 08:07 | from the 2013 report "Our total iodine production in 2013 was approximately 10,757 metric tons: approximately 6,119 metric tons from Nueva Victoria and Iris, 3,165 metric tons from Pedro de Valdivia, and 1,474 metric tons from María Elena." They closed the iris plant and the Maria Elena mine (El Toco) in Oct and December 2013. That should put them on around 2300 to 2500 less production this year, getting them down to 8,250 to 8,450 mt. That will be near 4000mt less than they produced in 2011. While the market has grown by around 2500mt since that time. A 6,500 mt gap You can see why I think as we move towards 2015 an iodine shortage will appear. Pre 2011 Cosayach were on over 6000mt, but then fell to under 2000, recovered to a rumoured 3,750. but have been just been hit again, amount yet unknown. Algorta talked 3000 for 2013 but they had produced in prior years, and I doubt they got to 3000mt going on the H1 13 report. Sirocco -500 this year, but inventory to clear. The production drop balances up IOFs appearance. The figures don't stack up to cover growth and demand combined with dropped production and Chile issues. It seems for sure a shortage will come, and probably planned by SQM. | superg1
17/6/2014 07:44 | Still digging through SQM stuff to provide details to Mr B but I thought this was worth sharing. Below is the last 4 years of SQM production and sales. It seems they carried a large inventory, but we know in 2011 they off-loaded what they had to fill the gap left by the Japan earthquake, and prices took off, it now gives a rough insight into what they may have left and what may happen short term. Sales listed in mt for the last 4 years Sales Production 2010 11.9k mt 8.8k mt (200mt El Toco) 2011 12.2k 9k mt (1.7k El Toco) 2012 11.1k 10.9 k mt, (1.7k mt El Toco) 2013 9.3k mt production 10.75 k mt ( 1.5k mt El Toco) 2011 was the mad scramble year post Japan earthquake, so inventories were off-loaded. It would seem for the figures that SQM have 1.5k mt of inventory. They have closed the El Toco mine of 1.5 k mt production last year. They have closed the Iris plant exact rate to be confirmed but thought to be 800-1000mt. It seems they will probably reduce their inventory this year. | superg1

16/6/2014 21:25 | Just noise...... | woodpeckers
16/6/2014 21:25 | Nothing is happening atm hence all the filters. Io6 at the end of the month, fingers crossed, along with io5. That should allow iodine production to trend up. Hopefully some iodine supply contracts then steady growth. Fingers crossed of course | 1madmarky
16/6/2014 21:15 | Has something happened? Never had so many filters? | freshvoicem
16/6/2014 20:54 | Well forgetting the 'noise' and ignoring the share price , it's important to remember that everything seems to be going IOF's way at the moment. | woodpeckers
