cyber hub i agree but after a big fall - flat line is most likely, unless shorts get squeezed - i think the water permit will do that. possibly!!

shorting is healthy, but ultimately a tough way to make money.
a) the market can remain irrational longer than you can stay solvent! ( keynes i think)
b) prices can go up without limit, therefore unlimited losses ( volkswagen!)
c) hardwork!!

sorry if i misunderstood fickle post - ive only been on a few hours!!!
( actually enjoying myself)

yes, he's 70, been on the board of shell, anglo american, expro international and so on. hopefully to work on his golf game which needs it!!!!
( good at short range on three foot puts though).
stena is the key which he is still chairman of and is the largest private company in sweden - own stena line and oil drilling ships ) very cash rich - billions, and i would imagine supportive in a crisis , i saw they rolled the notes and the market now its irrational says the company is broke - evidence, they released a note saying they had re-neg their financing....

Any bit of good news (confirmation that we don't need more funding, and/or news of production coming successfully onstream, and/or getting the water permit), and I see us returning to 75p or so... perhaps push back towards the 100p once we start seeing regular quarterly profitable operation... mister big,

I fear you misunderstood my fickle post.

I was referring to the people on here who castigate shorting & shorters... yet when faced with one who goes long they welcome him (you) with open arms.

Fickle, see?

Thanks. Just looked and you are right.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately that increases risk slightly for me as the situation is similar to the one I operated under in the 90's. We had the odd incidence (very rare and only once with any customer) when revenue had to be reversed and booked later or worse was accepted then booked as a loss in a later quarter if the cash didn't appear which was a real issue. It also means it is harder to determine cash flow from the p&l forecasts, so the cash input I used in my calcs based on the projected revenue may actually be less and so the cash position worse.

The company I worked for was a US company and changed its booking method at the turn of the century. I can't remember if this was by choice because of revenue reversal issues or forced. Anyway, we were taken over by a UK company shortly after.

He reminds me of another bigshot investor who invested in SXX a while back... everyone got very doe-eyed when he started posting on London South East and the stock rose to 30p... then the fall, to 6p!

James Glickenhaus.

I dare say his presence persuaded a few to buy, just like Arron Banks will here.

But be careful, he has money to burn, you don't.

fickle!!

I don't get attached to stocks. fundamentals, and their relative prices.
at £2 it was overpriced, I don't see that as destructive but common sense.

Its a stock not a dog ( although some might disagree at these prices)

Netley, now that Mr Big is here, (as opposed to Jonny Big), I suggest you go long and actually BUY some of these shares.
Especially seeing as it did reach your target price.

paragon diamonds and stick on opposable thumbs!! Still if we call it an adjustment instrument we might get city interest.

lol - i might consider the first, as I'm rapidly becoming a diamond fan - i was out in kimberly two weeks ago, looking at the mines. Prices are up 10% first quarter for small diamonds and rand costs are looking good with 19 to 1 exchange rate on the horizon.

actually, found a 4.2ct diamond on the grease tray which was very exciting, beginners luck. !!!

jim is a very smart investor,

My simplistic view is;
when IOF was over £2 i shorted it because it was overvalued and city hyped.
now its 50p its brilliant value and a good target is around £1.20 but , no doubt cash is tight. Chris knew that and did the stena deal to take pressure off by pushing out the bond until cash flow can pay it down. If operational with cashflow bank debt is possible too.

so what we have here is a sell off, dopey institutions and weak holders being given a caning by evel and his merry share prophet pals , after hedge fund worked it out first. Share prophets probably short at 80P ,so will not make much if price bounces.

The business model is intact , fundamentals good and therefore underpriced for the time being - if i was iofina perhaps strategically sell the production to someone who needs secure supply ( trade funding has even been known in those circumstances) and use what is required for speciality chemicals business.

and with that good night!! ( interesting experience on the ADFVN message board) - chilean issues are actually interesting so I have added some new knowledge - thank you!!!!

Point taken

But my interest is more about Chile folk under pressure re the current cost and their margins v IOF forecast opex.

Slow down and consolidate seems a good idea to me for now.

The price issue is more about bears telling us we are all going to die due to cash problems, bail out, can't sell iodine etc etc.

If you are who you say you are, then as you know that argument is a load of bull.

Interesting comments mister,
Must admit, I've bought more than I can afford here recently because of the silly prices, worth the risk.

incidentally, the obsession with the way iodine prices develop is beside the point, if you are attempting to predict iodine prices suggest you miss out iofina and trade iodine!!
iofina has a lower cost of production than competitors and thats the main point.

I think iofina remains a very interesting play, and ultimately if it were better funded it would accelerate production at a loss for the long term benefit of being a super low cost producer. Chris understood this and pushed the company to expand faster than they probably would have wanted to. However, it seems reasonable to pause and consider how well the technology works before proceeding to I0x and beyond.
As you rightly observe I have another industry firmly in my sights with the diamond business and the price increases happening there due to excellent demand / supply dynamics! but Iofina just too cheap to ignore!!
