beercapafn - There was a production update on 12th April last year - a Wednesday.

Given that, when do you think we might get some news?

When I do come here, I often scratch my head at some, still supporting this management team. Although I don't agree with some points beercapfn repeatedly says, I do agree with him, and quite a few others that changes need to be made and this current management are not proactive enough to move Iofina forward, and into a position I feel they should be in by now, or even in 12 months time. I wasn't here in the glory days, and I am lucky enough to have a low margin, but like so many others have done, I am seriously considering my options as to moving on, because many others seem to be happy with what they have here, and I just don't get that kind of investing. All the best to all.

Market is weak at the moment, as a PI you are irrelevant, which they have demonstrated over the years...

Serraria - One thing you should understand, those running company are academics and not business men, if they were they would issued 10m share when share price was £2 and cleared all their debts, instead of waiting until share price was a few pence, which meant issuing substantially more shares creating greater dilution.

Thanks as ever serratia.

Good to have affirmation that iodine prices are stable. SQM a few week ago said they expect the price to remain stable for the rest of the year.

One thing other than the woes of Cosayach is I did read somewhere production from Japan is increasing slightly.

Additionally SQM have gone quiet on the new mine at Pampa Orcoma. I think this may have been delayed in the permitting process.

Anyway expecting some very solid production figures in the middle of the month.

Back in 2014 iodine was $38/kg, OCF( $6.7m), operating costs ($9.3m). The iodine price dropped to $20 by 2017. By then costs were halved and OCF was ($5.2m). Net debt stood at $16.2m.
The board was having to deal with inherited large debts badly set up new plants and a falling iodine price. Each year then the iodine price rose and in 2019 they moved to OCF positive. net debt had reduced to $6.7m. By 2022 the iodine price had risen to $59, OCF to $10m. Operating costs kept in check. Net debt down to $1.1m
In 2022 OCF was $10.0 m , net debt $1.1m so they were strong enough to start expanding with new plants.
That is a good management track record. The only thing I'd hoped for was a faster new plant deployment but it's not totally in their hands. Potential brine suppliers were going through mergers and brine supply issues were never going to be a priority for oil / gas producers so the expansion pace was / is not totally in IOF's control.
That's my view, some may think differently and I don't want to get dragged into this so I'm staying off board for the time being.

Off course I have an issue with the BOD, they are inept, the share price is languishing at 22p after collapsing 11 years ago, while the chairman uses our money like his personal piggy bank.

Wake up and smell the coffee!

Serratia - Good post, sadly will have no effect on Iof thou, they live in world of their own and whatever is said its just same old same old...I've held these since 2014, always give your investments a chance, well 10 years is long enough in my book...

If the company would come clean and explain all the problems they face and give idea why growth is so slow, it might help.

Many thanks Serratia. I think many on this board check in here mainly for posts such as yours, which are always appreciated.

From time to time I see people posting about batteries, but world demand seems to grow slowly and steadily without this as an application sucking in additional supply.

My recollection was IOF should even with increased costs be quite profitable at $63. Obviously a higher price is good, but where would you see the price of iodine in 12/18 months? It seems like it is at a low point now given fundamentals of the market.

I think we have to assume they will move to a maiden dividend. That seemed to be the mood music at the last AGM.

As of now, 7 anonymous posters some of whom may be shareholders seem to line up behind Beer’s whinging post begging for a buy back (I am not one of the former but, regrettably, am one of the latter). At times like this, I regret not leaving my phone unused under charge.

If the BOD are plotting some M&A activity, they have seriously underestimated the market reaction to the lack of updated news and information being offered to shareholders.

The lack of information is being interpreted by the market as negative.

47% down from the 37p.

Just what IS necessary to spend some of the surplus balance sheet $ on a buyback?

Chilean press reporting that Cosayach are in trouble yet again.

One plant (Cala Cala) has been operating without correct permit's for several decades. They were warned to move it in 2022 however still in breach.

The press article yesterday says SMA are currently considering appropriate sanctions.

The one thing in Cosayach’s favour is potential job losses in the Pozo Almonte area. Their other larger production plant down the road is expected to close in coming months. 2 plants being closed would be a disaster for the local community.
