Yes, probably hoping talk of tier 1 investor would push share price a bit higher to strike this placing at a higher price. Rather underwhelming to say the least and they have probably shot any remaining credibility with existing shareholders but on the bright side this cash should finally see them through to launching mistral and to profitability.

EDIT : might even persuade some of these strategic investors that were apparently queuing up to finally get involved

It's nice to have the cash position sorted for a while but I'm a bit underwhelmed by the RNS. I was under the impression that a strategic investor of the manufacturing type was about to join IES in their endeavours.

149 bought
184 sold.
Not exactly a sell-off, unless there are more sells waiting in the wings.

At the time of writing ~ -8% on a net of ~70k shares being sold seems a bit excessive...

How long will it take for these people to wake up?

I was told by Zenobe that they couldn't get funding for vanadium batteries, because it wasn't widely used and the finance guys didn't know anything about it. No track record in other words. Dinosaurs!

So I don't think it's the technical people who have the problem with vanadium.

Fire concerns from lithium aren't the only consideration. When today's lithium BESS instillations begin to degrade massively there will be a realisation that the indefinite life of Vanadium electrolyte will become cost effective for VRFB. In a green society the huge end of life waste of lithium systems won't be accepted.

My premise has always been that the market is huge and we need only a slither to make it work.i haven't got any figures to throw about just it's been what I thought all along here .

I think people are still taking risks just a lot of the wealth is in older and wiser hands and there are now an increased plethora of bets folk can now make with global stock trading platforms and crypto etc . The 20 something's are all buying crypto on revolut etc for example much more likely to be trading crypto than stocks ...again just guess work and an opinion. We have become a world of gamblers as interest rates where low for over a decade and risk averse Investors sought out higher returns than pitiful savings rates . Equity investment became more widespread.

Chernobyl never stopped nuclear ..a few fires isn't going to stop lithium . The safety aspect of vfrb is just a bell and whistle cost will have to come down to make this happen . Maybe already there in china but they are not sharing the tech ..yet...if vfrb takes off will they enter the west and take all the business ..I'm.not bothered about that here as we would have made a mint by then . Hope posted an article about a $5 mill grant in the USA for research into various hurdles about vfrb adoption and targeting a certain price by 2030 ..I can't remember the metric but I guess it's a lot cheaper than whats currently achievable ...obviously .

Notwithstanding the philosophical debate IES is bubbling up here in anticipation of something let's hope it is well founded on some genuine progress.

Certainly risk taking is at a low in every part of our society. Inevitably it has filtered in to the financial sector and industry. It's a sad state of affairs but that is for another conversation. We must be a dying breed.

Mike, everyone who matters, those who have influence, those who those who understand that the grid (or grids) need BES systems of one sort or another to stabilise and balance the grids as more and more renewable energy is generated from windmills and solar. The need for battery storage and back-up systems is not in dispute, as far as I am aware.

Nevertheless, the vast majority of battery systems for grid support continues to be lithium. And it's not all down to the cost of vanadium. Is it because of ignorance, inability to think outside the box, reluctance to become involved with something new and different, fear of being first to try something, or lack of publicity about the benefits of vanadium?

How do you define "everyone who Matters"? Are we talking about fund managers etc that will back IES with cash or people working in the energy sector. It's very true about lithium being the market leader by a distance but Mistral might make a difference when it comes on stream. If we were to accept that lithium will continue to be the more or less only go to storage battery we might as well all go home.

Mike, I think everyone who matters realises that more battery backup systems are required for the grid, and actually there are loads of BES systems being installed all over the place, including the UK. Problem is, apart from China, these are mostly lithium systems, despite the fire issues. No-one seems to want to know anything about vanadium!

I've been thinking about the money running out, a bit worried actually, but reading much about the growing, if not established, realisation that renewables need storage to make any sense, I am confident that IES will not just fold. There must be a growing awareness among funds that there is a huge opportunity for a multi-increase in storage and that means profits somewhere along the line. IMHO IES will seem a decent bet because of the reach it has obtained across many countries and the new generation that Mistral represents. I can't believe that IES will not get the financial backing it will need going forward, I remember Amazon going back lots of times for more money, it was years, to keep going while they were loss making. You would have had to have a strong faith in the concept and Bezos to keep backing the project but wouldn't you have done well. I'm not saying that IES will be valued like Amazon but the same principle applies I reckon.

More upwards pressure it's likely someone somewhere knows something with brokers partners involved info slips out ..

Be nice to get to 30 p before Rns we saw a run up to c 60 p last time post placement ..

More shares in issue now but also last time it was just a straight placement clearly there is a range of share price outcomes .30p to £1 😂 ..not much use I know but 50-60 p could be realistic very hard to call. It took just over 3 months from trough to peak last year. Could well do something similar this year hopefully better ..
