13/12/2022 02:26 | These strikes are a real mess with everything not just RM. The Unions love flexing their muscle to the misery of others. I think once the strike is resolved Thompson should go anyway and maybe some property sold to pay for this mess. The Unions are Hell to deal with and calling them Neanderthals is detrimental to Cave Men everywhere. They become very aggressive if you don't agree with them. | isis
12/12/2022 11:03 | Proper boneheads, plenty will soon be out of a job. Who is going to employ them? Nobody. | rudder
12/12/2022 08:30 | Casholaa, I think the slight flaw in that plan is it requires the ("already struggling to make ends meet") postmen to effectively take a 40% pay cut every week. Doesn't sound too clever to me. NMRN | not my real name
11/12/2022 18:31 | Hopefully, the management won't cave in before the new year and the posties can exercise their right to strike for their rights a couple of times a week, well into the new year. | casholaa
09/12/2022 14:49 | General 'post' which pretty much includes everything sendable etc vs simple parcel end-to-end courier. | casholaa
09/12/2022 14:06 | How come all the other Delivery Companies are'nt striking? I assume they were all given 15 percent rises LOL | isis
09/12/2022 13:36 | I'm quite content for the strikes to go ahead up to end of December, I've done all my xmas shopping now. I fully support the strike action and think they should add some further dates up to the middle of February 2023. Good luck posties! | casholaa
09/12/2022 12:33 | Posties in mail centres have been offered a year's wages to leave. Looks like a large redundancy bill coming up on top of everything else. | encarter
09/12/2022 12:18 | I'm expecting a delivery from dhl today. I am drop-off 84 and the delivery drive is currently on dropping off to number 31. It's excellent to be updated like this. Amazon also use a little van on a map. If only RM had something like this. | casholaa
09/12/2022 10:25 | Thanks NMRN as your insider knowledge is so good to read. Enjoy the weekend and good luck to you too 👍🏻 | tuftymatt
09/12/2022 10:15 | I still see this as a great buy. My average is 2.15 and I reckon on double to treble within 2 years. If they can get a deal with the Union they will fly immediately. The potential for RM is huge. The reforms being proposed are all massively cash/profit generating. The Union are living in the dark ages. The so called "Uberisation" is nonsense. I have been offered a courier style deal which pays between £45k and £70k depending on route/number of parcels delivered etc. You have to provide your own van/insurance etc but for any enterprising people with a bit of drive and ambition I think this is a good opportunity. The problem is RM is full of bone idle losers who have been mollycoddled for years and don't understand how the new world works. I am old enough to remember the "good old days" but realistic enough to know that all companies need to adapt to survive in this new world. If RM get their way and force the changes through the old timers will gradually die out/leave/feign an illness for medical retirement or take redundancy and a new vibrant workforce, unafraid of change, will be born. That's when the cash really rolls in. If nothing happens and they split the company then GLS has a stand alone valuation of around £4bn according to almost all analysts. With a billion shares in existence that's £4 a pop. RM can go to pot and we still all make some money. I won't be accepting their offer any time soon as I can make good money from the current system with very little effort but if we can have the changes in place in the next couple of years I will look to be taking on half a dozen franchises and employing drivers to operate them for me. I would then only work as sickness/holiday cover for each of the routes along with my son-in-law. Despite all the current issues RM is the first name that springs to mind for most business users which means your work is pretty much guaranteed for as long as you want it. I wouldn't even consider doing this for Amazon/Evri/DPD or any of the myriad other mickey mouse firms currently operating in the sector. Anyway, that's enough from me today. I'm off out now to enjoy my strike enforced long weekend. Good luck to all holders, NMRN | not my real name
09/12/2022 10:09 | Well done on being clear of this!! I hold at a 275 average and it's a low level part of my portfolio so think it's worth chipping it down in the hope of a miracle in the UK or a split / sell off which would be north of 3 I think. | tuftymatt
09/12/2022 10:00 | I was out a 3 quid but well under water elsewhere. | encarter
09/12/2022 08:33 | Yeah true enough including us buying this!! | tuftymatt
09/12/2022 08:32 | Everybody makes mistakes. | encarter
09/12/2022 08:26 | There was a link to a video on here by a major shareholder last month that kind of spells it out. DK has not been increasing his stake to see the UK business keep on bleeding out. | tuftymatt
09/12/2022 08:09 | What makes you think shareholders would benefit from a sell-off? | encarter
09/12/2022 07:45 | I agree YM regarding the GLS sell off. There is no way the major shareholders are not planning / pushing for this. Every day the losses grow and with customers pulling away too they will be working hard to get this broken up asap in my opinion. | tuftymatt
08/12/2022 20:33 | Great to have the inside track NMRM To be honest there is pressure from all sides to get a deal done. As you point out the union is losing support but they also know that inflation is likely to fall significantly next year to better to settle now - which will make the deal look great later. Alas I still dont see much of a future for RM. GLS will be sold off and when RM finally runs out of cash there will be all kinds of recriminations! | yieldmonkey
08/12/2022 12:52 | Material adjusted operating loss in Royal Mail of GBP219 million (H1 2021-22: GBP235 million profit), driven by weak parcel volumes, inability to deliver productivity improvements and impacts from industrial action. No dividend | coxsmn
08/12/2022 11:06 | Going sub 200 in the next week???? | casholaa
07/12/2022 17:57 | Hi tuftymatt, A photograph is a moment in time. I can take the same picture at work and two or three hours later the floor would be clear. There is obviously a backlog when we go back after a strike but it is virtually cleared after two days. As Xmas gets closer things will probably deteriorate due to rising volumes but right now the situation is being managed quite well. The crazy thing is we have a strike which means we lose two days pay. Lets be conservative and say an average of £100 per person per day. Approx 100,000 on strike. RM save £20 million in wages. We then go back and work like dogs for 2 days to clear the backlog within our normal working hours for no extra pay! It can only make sense to an effing moron but unfortunately.... RM is full of them! NMRN | not my real name
