Due to the post office scandal this must be a screaming short.

I'm wondering if they are just stock Loans going in and out of their Accounts as this seems to happen on most stocks they have an interest in. Hence why I don't take any notice of their holdings anymore as they're always moving up and down.

Last couple of holdings RNS from Blackrock showed them from below 5% to 5% (2 March 2023) and then back down below 5% a week or so later (15 March 2023). Blackrock often hover around 5% in a lot of stocks, as far as I cansee. Nothing to suggest they have been reducing further, although you never know.

I don't really take much notice of what Blackrock does in any stock as they are so vast. They also lend stock out for shorting and are running allsorts of strategies for different funds.
Not really are reliable source as their holdings move all the time.

As of the second quarter of 2023, the New York City-based asset management company BlackRock had total assets under management (AUM) of around 9.4 trillion U.S. dollars. This compares to 8.50 trillion U.S. dollars of AUM one year earlier, as of 2021. The total assets under management of BlackRock Inc.14 Sept 2023

What makes you think BlackRock are selling, can I ask?

Hi Matt,

3 quid is definitely on the way but Blackrock have an awful lot of shares to get rid of and the volumes of trades has been tiny recently.

I am convinced the only thing holding us back is their continued selling but only time will tell.

😂

I am back in having sold at around the recent high. More luck than anything else with that one!!

Hoping for a better challenge of 300 in the coming few months but let's see.

Good luck all 👍🏻

isis,

"Xerox has revealed a new operating model and organisational structure “to further the company’s reinvention” and is looking to reduce its workforce by 15%."

Obviously just "copying" Royal Mail strategy!

I'm here all week. :-)

Sunak is desperate for votes this year so will be piling it on 'Hard Working Families' 'Long Suffering Taxpayers' etc. so will want to be seen as a People's Champion.
The Reality is the business needs to be sized down to reality market conditions and he'll try and kick it into the long grass.
Abysmal really.

Not my real name. You are correct Parcels is a separate business with separate depots and a separate hub at Coventry airport, the Mail hub is outside Daventry by the M1. Parcels though do share the HGV's for the trunking, and presumably pay RM for the service. It's one of the more sensible arrangements that RM has, being able in some instances to use an HGV for a parcel's inward journey to the hub, and then sending the HGV to collect outbound mail from the Mail hub.

Another significant difference is that many van drivers are 'self employed', ie they have to provide their own van and provide cover for days when they are not working. They get paid a fee per parcel, plus variations depending upon being a town run or a country run. Mercedes were offering an attractive monthly lease deal for vans that included maintenance, advertising openly in Parcel depots. If Royal Mail went the same way, then staff/vehicle costs would plummet, but I guess the CWU would try to block it. I don't know how Parcel Force managed to get away with it, but 'self employed' van drivers are pretty much the norm across the parcel industry..

(RM does a huge amount of empty journeys and yet seems not bothered about finding return work for those empty runs. No real world commercial transport company would tolerate this level of under utilisation.)

There will always be a need for Post. I know there are plenty of people that still like to queue at Banks, pay for everything in cash and will probably never use the internet. I think they are called Gypsies! but seriously once you start you can't really go back to all that faffing about.
I haven't been in a branch of my main Bank for about 20 years, partially because there aren't many branches anyway having closed so many down I'd need to make a special trip!
Fingers xxxd in 20 years of online transactions I have never been scammed except by an Evri F/U and a dodgy seller!

Isis,
Yes, would tend to agree with your thoughts. Although that might be because I take extreme precautions online, and in every day life.

Cash in shops wherever possible for example, not credit cards/debit cards.

As to shredding, always burned all my papers - and anything that goes into the bin has its address removed first!
:)

It's the elderly I feel particularly concerned for. Many struggle with the move to online only and they're also more likely to panic/be too trusting and click on a "scammers link"

Rarely get any Junk Mail these days and I haven't opted out of anything. I think identity theft is exaggerated but there are some obvious online scams, also you are apparently more protected buying online than in the Street!
I think alot of the thefts are inside jobs from casual workers and staff in Banks etc.
Shredding machine Companies also like to spread the myth. ;-))

I prefer to get my credit card statement in paper form, but happy to have statements online.

Easier to forget when the Credit Card is due (and thus incur late payment charges which I suspect is the idea to have such online!) if it isnt in paper form and pinned to my "to do board"

Having all such online, accessible via ones pc, makes one very vulnerable to data theft too - which seems to be a fairly regular occurrence. Pity we cant get 77th Brigade to track down scammers rather than nasty name callers and those unhappy taking Cov-19 vaccines!

I must say I do enjoy the absence of junk mail that used to be ridiculous.

I used to get about 20 Letters a month from Banks and Finance Companies - I may get one or two nowadays.
No wonder Communisis went bust!

They all stopped sending Statements even though I never asked them to. To be fair with everything online I don't need them. There will always be people that will complain though as they see it as something of a Freebie and just bin it anyway.
I know someone who collected crates of Bottled Water when the mains broke even though it was back up a few hours later and they don't drink bottled Water. I said what you gonna do with all that Water. He said the Wifes got bad feet and gonna wash her feet in them and it's free!
I want Letters from my Bank/NHS/Tom Cobbley because they're free, even though I've got them on text and email! That's the mentality.
NHS spends £210m on Post.

The US version loses well over $1billion a year. Government have their Head in the Sand, they haven't even read the report from their own Watchdog Regulator and are already playing games.

My Postman delivers all of my Large Letters and most of my Small Parcels.

A Small Parcel is a package thicker than 25mm or over 750g.

31337COD3R,

Parcels are virtually a different business. They are not delivered by the postman on the walk but usually by a separate van delivery.

Parcels make a profit, letters don't!
