Gargoyle2,

The complaints above all refer to the "postal service" which, as has been explained here on numerous occasions, is nothing whatsoever to do with the Post Office.

Hope this helps,

I think I must be on the wrong board here. Was looking for an IDS investment board, but have stumbled across the Post Office complainst board :)

I'm pretty sure that everyone would be calmed if they knew a Letter was in the post in the event of all communications, electronic devices and basically everything was at a standstill in the event of a Cyber attack that paralysed the whole Country. :))

I don't think there is any question of getting rid of the Postal Service, that's not what it's about. Just needs to be trimmed down to go with times. just like anything else that isn't being used.

might only get three days of junk mail now

gov would want to keep post infrastructure in case of cyberattack on the uk

'A spokesperson said: “The printing sector as a whole is witnessing inexorably declining volumes in the wake of the emergence of digital technologies, while the costs of production – including rising energy prices and the cost of paper – has also hit some companies across the sector hard.'

Well the reality is and perhaps Sunak should take note is that Companies aren't sending out that much Mail and consequently Companies like Communisis that used to send out Bank Statements etc. have gone bust.
I had shares in those too, fortunately they were taken over about 6 years ago but failed to keep up.

When are the "drones" going to start delivering packages all times of the day, every day of week!

Surely, the days of demand for first class post have almost entirely disappeared. It must be counted madness to persist as if that were not the case.

Has anyone tried to book a Flight/Holiday/Concert/Show other than online or unless you live next door?
In fact it's nigh impossible to find a Travel Agent in the High Street.

In fact the last 2 holidays I went on they didn't even ask for my E-Ticket just Passport.

Quite bizarre that people complaining they didn't get a Letter from the Hospital or Bank Statement on time but somehow managed to type a complaint online to the Times/Sun/Mail on their Smartphone! lol

.
lefrene - well i'm not really fed up to be honest - very rarely do i get letters that i need quickly

just pointing out that Royal mail are already ignoring their obligations under the USO

So any future ruling in that regard makes no difference in reality

JPM see some value here:-

JPMorgan raises International Distribution Services target to 450 (300) pence - 'overweight'

spob, it'll be the local distribution office that is doing that. Simple lack of staff to cover all the rounds, thus mail builds up on the unmanned sorting point for that round. An easy way to save on staff costs, I suspect the posties are as fed up about it as you are.

I had a sell order in from a while back that I had forgotten about which just got took out at 288.

Will look to add on a dip though as I think 300 is a realistic target this year.

Good luck all 👍🏻

I know they already ignore the universal 6 day obligation.

Often i will receive a big bundle of letters on a thursday. But nothing at all on most other days.

I agree in that "Businesses" should receive post 5 days a week while homes could be cut slightly. The issue I guess is managing that along with stamps in terms of "next day"

Either way it looks like we can get some positive progress in this area as it is an unsustainable model based on a 2/3 drop in volume.

Good luck all

I only get 3 or 4 bits of Post a Week now, all inconsequential or non urgent.

Most of us only need post twice a week. Posties numbers can be dwindled down with natural retirement and new work schedule would take on two rounds alternate day deliveries and then maybe three rounds every third day deliveries.

I think Sunak is not playing Ball because he thinks he'll get extra votes.

The Blokes a complete ---- fill in the Blanks.
