As I keep saying...these figures are meaningless.

Who cares about how many people have tested positive for covid.
The only statistic that matters is the number of deaths, which is currently 58 a day

and dropping........look at the statistics for 'Weekly deaths with COVID-19 on the death certificate by date registered'

Talk about trying to scare up a storm....

Former U.S. Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb called for “urgent research” into a mutation of the delta variant -- known as delta plus -- following a surge in Covid-19 cases in the U.K.

“We need urgent research to figure out if this delta plus is more transmissible, has partial immune evasion,” Gottlieb said in a tweet.

“There’s no clear indication that it’s considerably more transmissible, but we should work to more quickly characterize these and other new variants. We have the tools.”

Never understood why, 2 years down the road, Sunday statistics are still not up to date ??

IN addition, why oh why do they continue to bleat on about the numbers of positive cases !
Who cares !!!
It is only deaths related to covid that has any consequence.

Daily deaths with covid 19 on the death certificate currently 58 and reducing.

Scientists have urged the UK government to impose fresh coronavirus restrictions in England over winter, as high hospital admission and fatality rates outstrip the rest of western Europe.

The UK’s weekly death rate stands at 12 per million, three times the level of other major European nations, while hospitalisations have risen to eight Covid-related admissions a week per 100,000 people, six times the rate on the continent

The death rate is down to 57 because it's a Sunday update although clearly the vaccine is having a very beneficial affect considering the infections rate.

But how many cases of FLU are in those figures?

It's a really good covid update. Death rate remains incredibly low despite higher cases, confirms vaccine efficacy and why any notion that restrictions are returning must be quashed. Travel stocks still trading at significant discount based on risk of return to lockdown but the more data that comes out the more I'm convinced we are approaching the moment the sector is going to properly surge higher
