@smithy, good responses, i think the same, 360k die each quarter from car accidents, over 6 times more than this has killed over same period, this is an insane over reaction by the great unwashed.

So, all of the supply chain disruption, starting up of manufacturing lines, te-employment and reconfiguring of workforce, not to mention investment deals, refinance, none of this will result in a pick up in business travel? Pull the other one.

Global trade will restart the minute global economies decide that the cure is worse than the disease. People are already being warmed up to the idea that granny with serious comorbidity issues is a worthy long term trade for your 401K.

PHE stats have shown a drop in annualised deaths for March. This shutdown is nothing but a government populist over reaction to public mass hysteria. Let’s see calm recover once people see what their tax bill will be at the end of this. My forecast is this shutdown will be reversed by mid June. IAG forecast burn rate is half a bill per quarter. So loads of head room.

Just focus on USA and Spain and here. Obviously global travel will only restart when countries become virus free Until these do not come out of this crisis , IAG are not gonna make much revenue. This is why Co has reduced its costs by suspending 36k. It reduces their cash burn , I.e preserves their cash linger

Logan, you and your mates at your leisure outfit tell yourselves that. Truth is there is going to be a lot of pent up business demand when thinks snap back and not many people going on cruises (plague ships). BA haven’t shut down beach fleet without reason....

What I've been hearing is there is going to be some long term permanent loss in business travel however there will not be any long term permanent loss in leisure travel therefore in the long term this will effect BA far more then it will Easyjet.

Will executives stop jetting around the world? No they see it as a perk. Will sales or contract negotiations ever be as effective over video conferencing? Not a chance. Monty reckons the world will shift to video conferencing entirely. Clearly he hasn't been in a corporate office for quite some time. Every meeting room these days has video conferencing facilities. Every computer and phone is equipped with it. It's already happened for the plebs. But everyone knows that things move faster in person. Especially if pressure needs applying. Boomers still need to spend their piles of cash. The 1pc wouldn't be seen dead in cattle class. And so business/1st class will live on.

First class and business class, transatlantic the big earner of course for BA. Teleconferencing has changed everything, the world has moved online, companies must think do we really have to fly for a meeting.

Buy an insurer? Wow wish I'd thought of that! I own a lot more of Aviva and LGEN than I do of IAG. The fact is if you keep a diverse portfolio this is the sort of share that will leave a small dent if it takes a bailout or else it will help your portfolio outperform the market. So yes it's risky. Of course it is. But used in the right way it's a decent enough gamble. It's the strongest player in a sector on the edge of the abyss. It's the one that stands a half decent chance at crawling over the broken bodies of it's rivals to safety. You shouldn't be putting all your eggs in one basket in any case.
