Another reason they called off strike, costing pilots to much money.

But Monday's traffic and capacity report for September, can't be good 3 days of strikes, planes out of position either day of strike days, don't expect a lot Monday boys. Shares may full further,.

Deal, or no deal, that is the question. Price of oil and TC staff having to go to food banks is irrelevant.

Pilots won't strike, press and public would slaughter the pilots has pure greedy bullies. TC staff said they have had to go to food banks and take out loans.
BA young militant pilots, 20,000 grand rise plus bonus, not enough, lol.

Cycles are good for the market, trying to engineer a one way market is kinda stupid and very dangerous. But that's never stopped them before.

M1. In a couple of years time I agree, but if there is a downturn, no airline will be better off during that period. It's amazing how long a zombie company can keep going when money is so cheap and it would take a while for many to be found out.

ham....I would suggest the opposite. That with more airlines collapsing, there will be less choice for customers.
O'leary has just said that the package deal is dead.

Airlines will be completing for fewer passengers and price dropping to generate turnover if the global economy heads south.
Did I mention we have had a 10 year record bull markets run?
Now what comes next???

BA's costs will escalate if BALPA decide to escalate strike action because of perceived intransigence on behalf of BA management. Remember GM workers have been on strike since the 15th September. £120 Million costs to BA will quickly rise if further strikes take place

Grumpy.......the Pilots haven't divulged how much 'share gain' they have benefited from but this is the phrase that is used to describe the 10 years of benefit they have received to the detriment of other employees.

Agree Toon, if BA don't get back to the negotiating table, BALPA will announce strikes in Oct/Nov and Dec and then the share price will be down to 430p levels, if not heading that way on Monday after disastrous PR and passenger figures for September. They need to have the trust and loyalty across the whole team, and to sepnd 30-40 million achieving that compared to 3 years profits and a great IAG service across the organisation is worth it, Criz and Walsh need to step outside and smell the fresh air and speak to real people soon!!!

Ham.......compensation for what ????
They have benefited from 10 years of 'share gain ' that other employees have not !
They are not as hard done by as they would like you to believe.

YOU SHOULD STOP USING SHARE GAIN

Better to use share of profits

Directors and senior management have awarded them selves a bigger slice of the profits cake to the detriment of all employees INCLUDING Pilots

At present all and sundry are losing out apart from senior management

Lets hope BA get back to the negotiating table, they don't want to be in General Motors situation in the US. "The General Motors strike is getting more expensive. It has likely cost the automaker more than $1 billion already." -

M1. But the 11.5% is really about 1% above inflation per year really. Which is ok but to that's just a regular pay settlement, not a compensatory one.

On Monday 7th Oct traffic and capacity report for September, going to be down I would have thought, 3 days of strikes, plus either day of strikes, planes out of position. Monday could be a case of brace yourself.

The 900 flying hours limit is a CAA / EU / EASA limit which applies to all pilots and cabin crew.

Whether any airline works their employees up to the maximum limit, is of course up to them.
Your assumption that BA pilots work harder is questionable, as to the interpretation of 'work'.

BA Long haul pilots, for example, spend a great deal of their flying hours, doing the telegraph crossword, sleeping, looking at their ipads, reading the papers etc etc .
Although classed as ' flying hours', there are those who would question whether it is ' work '.

However, shorthaul pilots work harder by the simple fact that they undertake far more take off's and landings in any 24 hour period than Long Haul Pilots.

As for experience....BA have their own in house Pilot training program, which involves pilots starting at the bottom of the pay scale.
They do of course accept some ' direct entry ' pilots but even then, the vast majority start at the bottom of the pay scale and seniority list.

Lastly, you ignore the substantial benefits that BA pilots receive, outside of their basic pay, which adds hugely to the reasons why BA pilots stay with BA.
It is not all about Pay.....and in view of this, they should be grateful for an offer of 11.5% uplift.

After Boris' s speech, it's looking like exiting the EU by end of this month is quite likely. Markets may.not like that.

I'm sure Monty will see the article below in the usual way, only seeing what they want to see and how great it is for BA business. However, looking at the big picture, this unrest amongst pilots in various airlines would lead me to suspect that as a community, they believe that they are underpaid.Fundamentally, BA as the UK flag carrier airline, I would expect the pilots salaries to be the greatest by a reasonable margin to attract experience, skills and loyalty. This article would suggest not, which for a once is actually in line with my research, that BA pilots spend more time/days at work than comparable colleagues in other airlines, for less than a pro-rated uplift.Virgin I believe are only contracted to 740 or 750 flying hours, whereas BA work to the maximum 900. That's 20% more work, for their pay.https://twnews.co.uk/uk-news/now-virgin-atlantic-pilots-threaten-christmas-strike-chaos-for-thousands-of-passengersAll IMHO and DYOR
