Surely they will suspend dividend laying of 36,000 staff, that would be wrong.

Ham predicts (talking strangely in 3rd party)
The one thing I can't see happening during this period is the poorer EU countries leaving the EU.
In this climate the money they will get from the EU via ECB and financed greatly by the rich northern countries is vital.

buywell predicts the BOE will go to 0% rate within days

FTSE 100 companies coming out with the begging bowls will have to queue

Small companies get interest free loans for 2 years in order to survive most likely , but limited in numbers and much checking involved to avoid fiddles.

Next the BOE starts buying bigger company bonds with newly printed money, but even the BOE can't go round all FTSE 100 stocks with enough lolly.

Expect some to go under

UK debt will have to rise around 3 Trillion pounds to keep workers and businesses going

Some EU countries will be in a far dire predicament

Greece will most likely IMO go back to the Drachma and default on it's debts
Which is why the EU is going to have trouble now bailing out Italy and Spain

Dominoes are going to fall and the EU dream will IMO become a nightmare
Covid-19 has brought forwards EU disintegration by 3 to 4 years IMO , another country will IMO opt to get out within months , probably Hungary.

Not easy to be optimistic at the moment , better tell it like it is

The UK GDP figure in 2019 was 2.21 Trillion pounds

Currently government gross debt was £1,821.3 billion, equivalent to 85.2% of gross domestic product (GDP)

buywell sees UK debt having to rise to minimum 200% of GDP or 4.42 Trillion pounds

That is another 2.6 Trillion pounds needed from the above £1.8213 Trillion

Having our own currency and governance allows us to do that

Next 2 to 3 years is all about our survival , don't expect a trade deal from the EU Boris , get on without one as of NOW

If 36k are furlowed (the gov paying employees 80% of wage), at a low estimate average cost of £600 per week, then that's at least £22m a week of costs reduced.

Next couple of years will be about what capital gains you can get from share prices, forget the dividends.
But once this is in the rear view mirror and world trade is back to norm, what ever that proves to be, divis will come back, but any extra debts incurred over this period should be tackled first IMO.

Suspend all trading. No point when UK GOV appears to be controlling what commercial companies can and cannot do regarding paying dividends etc.

Shareholders no longer have a say in the businesses they own.

Have no idea, all businesses are asking themselves the same question.
But those businesses who are overleveraged will be found out when this tide finishes going out.

Monty, when you have your global supply of air freight cut massively, you have to pay a lot more for what is left. 500%-1000% more in some cases.

Can't see the shares getting suspended. Money will be raised to get through this by either, current money in the bank, existing credit lines, share issue or new gov/corp loans.

Seems this will be a long tough road,I would have thought shares would have been suspended. Its plainly obvious that airline shares are going nowhere but down.Maybe they will be suspended when the big boys hold enough, then when taken out of suspension money will be made, but not by retail investors.
