the dow is up 900 points not because we have found a solution but i guess the fed has started printing money again.i do not think it will work because this is a completely different issue to the financial crisis.once supply chains are brought to a halt we are all in unknown territory.

Many business trips are also now being cancelled or not booked.

it's a bit strange to me that a country such as Italy would happily close every single school in the country

but not ban all passenger flights

passenger flights are spreading this all around the globe

I agree ref cruise liners being hit harder than airlines.. Airlines are used for more than recreation. Who the hell would book a cruise right now? Prison with the option of drowning..

I see Flybe be are in trouble again, saying they could go bust by the end of the week and that the government has refused to give them a £100mln loan.

Unless Virgin take them over if and when they go bust....I doubt Easyjet will be allowed as they already have around 35% of the UK domestic market.

Would BA be interested in any of the non-LHR routes that Flybe have?

Virgin are only really interest in Flybe's routes into Heathrow, Manchester and Glasgow.

Loganair (not me but the airline) maybe interested in taking on some of Flybe's domestic routes.

astute investors understand the threat.this is why the share has lot a third of its value since the outbreak.if this is not resolve it will lose another third very quickly.look at reality before it is too late.

spod....What point is there in posting repeats of information such as this ?
1918 !!!!!

It's a great educational video

people have short memories

many people don't know anything at all about the 1918 flu pandemic

some people think it could never happen again, but it definitely could happen again

we don't need WAR to spread the flu today

airlines are much more effective

this virus is unknown territory FOR IAG.they have not dealt with something like this before.this virus has the potential of taking the airline industry back 50 years.revenue decimated but fixed costs still need to be absorbed,a formula for disaster if it continues for long.may seem absurd but i can see the share price below 100p if this pandemic is around for another six months.this is like biological terrorism.

Personally, I think the cruise industry is going to suffer greater problems than airlines.

I don't need to listen to them. It's clear as day that air travel will be completely back to normal sometime in the not too distant future. All four airlines can take a good kicking and get back up again. Clear buying opportunity.

1918 Spanish Flu historical documentary

Historical documentary about 1918 Swine Flu or Spanish Flu and the role of World War I in spreading the disease among troops making it into a worldwide plague of devastating proportions. The video covers where it began, how and where it spread, the symptoms, how it affected America and whether it could happen again.

spod.....but you obviously don't understand IAG.
They have substantial experience with problems such as this. They have weathered them before and will do so again.

Ignore what brokers say at the moment in regard to travel related companies.

They don't want to be seen to rock the boat within the City of London Club.

They are not gonna say in public what they are really thinking - only to private clients

British Airways - 270p to 113p after September 11 2001, in 10 trading days

and then went down to 86p in the next year

I think this will be worse than September 11 for the travel industry, to be honest
