BA is getting desperate.soon they will waive the charges for seats booked in advance because thee will be so many seats available.they deserve the loss of revenue due to the virus.they have been ripping customers for the last ten years.

Npp62. There is a lot of difference between 0.15% common flu and 3% corona flu fatality rate.
The whole reason governments around the world are going crazy is because of that, and if it's easy to pass on, they have done the maths. ie if there are 650,000 common flu fatalities per year.... You can work the rest out am sure.

3% mortality rate?... the flu kills off 100-200 in the UK every year. Let's have some perspective here

[Coronavirus] British Airways launches ‘book with confidence’ customer policy
ByIvan Coninx -4 March 2020021

British Airways has decided to waive its change fee, giving customers the flexibility to delay travel that is booked during the next two weeks. The move comes as a result of the outbreak of the Coronavirus Covid-19.

The policy will be available for new bookings made between Tuesday 3 March 2020 and Monday 16 March 2020. As some customers are facing uncertainty when booking travel at the moment, the airline has introduced the policy to give its customers more confidence, across any of its routes.

Andrew Brem, British Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer said: “As some customers may choose to change or delay their travel plans at the moment, it’s important we offer them greater flexibility. By waiving our change fee our customers can have the added confidence to book a trip with British Airways that suits them.”

The ‘book with confidence’ policy covers all British Airways routes with changes available right up to departure. Any fare difference due to a date change will still apply.

Upcoming flights that were booked before Tuesday 3 March 2020 cannot benefit from this new customer policy.

I cannot see the surgical team and recovery unit being affected by the virus. So emergency surgery will be dealt with no problem.
It's more the knock on effect for elected surgery which will be postponed.

If IAG fail we've got bigger things to worry about than investments. Personally I think that notion is an absolute load of garbage!

The thing is, so far from stats generated, it approx 10-20 times higher fatalities than common flu (0.15% for common flu vs 3%+ for corona flu), thats going to make headlines.
Italy has 200 in ICU and 1200 in hospital for only 2200 known cases). That's gonna take up beds if scales up.

this con about Octagarerians with underlying conditions dying if they catch a nasty virus.
That was always the case, they die in their 80's anyway, if they were lucky enough to get there.
Even then the % fatalities is only 15%.

This is turning out to be a the brainwashing/propaganda scam of the decade.

(another case reported in Brazil...man catches nasty cold, pass it on. per-leaze,)

Careful: Ref snowflake generation... it appears corona doesn’t mind snowflakes... it’s the Boomers and Octaganerians this one is after. No more panic than a load of Boomers on a cruise ship with a couple of sniffles!

How you idiots can possibly think your airline can make a profit is beyond me.!,

Your going bust

Black and white

No business can survive what’s hitting you on a daily basis.

Have you any idea what the WHO death rate of 3.4% WITH HOSPITAL CARE is going to do to people’s mindset in the next 18 months.

But the cash flow keeps them going. Airlines will have to fly to keep landing slots available in a lot of places.

Media coverage of potential for consolidation across the market. There are a lot of slots at Gatwick, as well as a load of available leased 787 when Norwegian goes pop.

Not to mention their Max order, mindful that IAG have a provisional order in for those too.

Airlines will reduce capacity and cut prices to encourage people to fly. Neither bode well for profits.
The best airlines have maybe 15% operating margin, so lower capacity and seat price reduction will hit profits.
