It's a risk off day, nothing personal against IAG, the whole market is down.

The famous IT cutbacks strike again more breakdowns than the AA and RAC combined.https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7708931/amp/Chaos-computer-glitch-grounds-BA-flights.html

I say this in frustration, as this is now becoming quite boring. The longer it hangs about, the less love they will get from the general public, should they try that stunt again.

Is there a time limit by which they need to make a recommendation to accept/not accept the offer to their members.

Neil....Thanks for the info but it still doesn't incentivise manufacturers and designers to make runways shorter.

It is an archaic method of taking off, with runways getting longer and longer , instead of shorter.

Yeah, but longer runways are kinder to the environment, the longer the runway the less power required for take off, a calculation is made based upon runway length, temperature etc which allows the aircraft to derate the take off power setting.

The harrier jump jet was capable of vertical take off and landing, however the reality was that when they actually used this capability they used so much fuel.

Personally, I think it is archaic that in the 21st century, we still need long runways for aircraft to take off and land.

The airline industry has been very lazy in developing new aircraft and being innovative regarding the requirement for lengthy runways, taking the easy option,by focussing on engines.

It is the same in the car Industry. No incentive to design vehicles that don't rust, or use less fuel, oil etc because the Oil companies and car manufacturers would make less profit.

Nothing will change until governments impose change.

From the LibDem Manifesto - "Reduce the climate impact of flying by reforming the taxation of international flights to focus on those who fly the most, while reducing costs for those who take one or two international return flights per year, placing a moratorium on the development of new runways (net) in the UK, opposing any expansion of Heathrow, Gatwick or Stansted and any new airport in the Thames Estuary, and introducing a zero-carbon fuels blending requirement for domestic flights."

The Santa Rally I reckon will start 13th December when Labour get decimated on the 12th. Lots of cash on the sidelines waiting to hit the market.

Monty, some big buys gone through at (STX), not long to wait it seems, judging by those trades, clues of an imminent major US commercialization deal coming up?

Personally, I find the person who keeps appearing every so often just to say 'strikes are coming' without any basis or substance to back it up, infinitely more frustrating. Disgruntled ex-employee or devoted shorter... Who knows, as they never say anything else. Truly pointless.

I see Monty has been posting his usual nonsense this time on the BT Group forum. According to the No.1 Trader Boris 'slaughtered' Corbyn last night which would mean a bounce for BT this morning. BT down this morning 1.2%...
