Share prices talk, hopefully if IAG has a run, on no rns, perhaps news leaked, always someone knows more than you.Just have to keep a eye on the shareprice. A lot of investors holding off, until Balpa confirm ya or na on Xmas strikes.

Thomas Cook was a game changer, even the young militant pilots at the BA arm of Balpa could not go ahead with last strike in September.BA being tough offered 11.5% again but won't reinstate travel perks until next September according to the press.Pilots have overplayed their hand.

To be quite honest I was getting a little worried that I would not receive Monty's Xmas card...!

Royal Mail wins court case against the Union..just announced, and quite some relief...there has to be an improved way to sort these disputes out in critical areas. There is too much damage/cost plus inconvenience to many people in key sectors like travel etc. It can be heart-breaking for some and the post Union appear to have conducted their procedures in an unacceptable way, and the Court has agreed. I wish the Government would bring some sense to the RMT asap. Anyway people can now execute their postal votes and exchange gifts for Christmas which is a good thing.

Agree. Bullying and intimidation are not nice and those who do should get what they deserve.

It was a nasty time toon. Reps getting sacked as well as non Reps.
Sad times.
I think if they want to sack you they will and deal with the legal consequences afterwards.
Chances of getting your job back , in any event, will be minimal.

m1k3y1 - during the 2010 dispute there were a number of suspensions and dismissals. But these were not purely down to going on strike were they? Suspect there were other issues??

Agreed toon, unfortunately some Unions are not as adept at advising their members of the full implications, as others.

I am sure BALPA is not in this category .

If this articles right, travel perks taken away and won't be reinstated until next September, BA being tough, unless it's a trump card to give back to pilots has a peace offering.https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/10262941/british-airways-christmas-strikes-called-off/amp/

toon.......This does not prevent the employer from taking action against them, short of dismissal. i.e removing staff travel etc.

In the dispute of 2010, there were a number of dismissals which the Tribunals upheld.

Let's be clear one of the functions of BALPA (or any other Union) is to advise their members of the implications of taking strike action. Financial implications would certainly be one.

......agree, but I think that they will be subject to penalties if they do strike....that could hurt them at a critical time as everyone burns the cash up to the Y/E, and check their spending/penance in January.

Just to remind everyone that the BA pilots industrial action is legal and so they cannot be sacked.

Yes young guns at the BA arm of BALPA, BAAC, will have to back off, they overplayed their hand. Put it to a ballot to accept perhaps, older pilots and Strutton could persuade them to accept the offer, they won't get a better deal. TC was a game changer for pilots. Once they accept I see 615p tested, if Xmas strikes of course 495p. They are greedy but not stupid.

Agree, but please give BALPA a bit of space...they have a few young die-hard pilots on a sensitive committee who are trying to show their teeth. I have met a few very young pilots...really nice and they seem very happy with BA...a couple even graduated from EasyJet, and Ryan Air as they saw better prospects for advancement at BA. All the best...and whoa! glad I have resisted trading any shares...hope I am not proved wrong.
