mh...agree, total imbalance between what we are doing compared to many others countries, however, despite what Trump has said, and done there are numerous US States and very large US Corporate entities that are in fact reducing their carbon footprint. The BBC program is a shame in some ways and the whistle-blower is being rather two faced....applauding BA and then in the next breath saying he is disappointed...I wonder how many cheap flights he has been on over his career...I'll take my hat off if he can say none.

OK I understand but the 747 I went to Joburg on last year was looking rather tired inside....mind you we did an excellent landing abort at the last second which showed that the plane is still quite robust...it was a bit scary as some idiot was on our runway, at the last moment. On the environment I just loved the mind freeze of Ms. Lucas the Green party MP for Brighton yesterday on the Andrew Marr program when he asked her when she last flew.....delay and then admitted she had recently been on a flight to the US to visit a son (I think)...well one has to...I rather like her, but when you see on the recent BBC series with Ed Ball about freight transport one has to accept the economics, timing, and commercial aspects to meet demand. One crazy item was about live scrimps being flown from Scotland via London and then onto France and China...also salmon from Iceland via London Heathrow to the USA, and then Norwegian salmon coming here for our markets and Europe. This is why it is important for airlines to use more fuel efficient planes, AND engage in carbon off-set commitments/arrangements. Finally it was interesting to see the share price recovery (weel a bit!)immediately Farage made his move on the withdrawal from 317 Tory held seats. Just shows how the market will react to Corbyn being relegated to a likely early retirement, after the GE.

cyberian....one of the reasons they are delaying getting rid of older aircraft, such as the 747, is that they don't owe them anything now.
All fully paid for , so generating net profit apart from running costs.

Don't panic...Walsh has already stated that he will re-examine whether there really is a justification over fuel tankering as another poster has revealed with a feed from Walsh. I think that BA are responsible managers, and genuinely are making changes over the environment issues in an acceptable manner. Off-set arrangements are good and newer more fuel efficient aircraft are also in the pipe-line to help in this direction...however, I wish that they would phase out some of their older aircraft at a faster pace. Again the P/E ratio compared to others in the sector is truly under-rated, and the investment returns are as good as they come. Finally agree with others here that sense that BALPA will agree a pay deal for reasons given...it is in the pilots interest not to damage their own job prospects...a balanced and fair deal is on the table imho.

misca.....nothing new here, all airlines have been doing it for years and years.
I agree about carrying duty free though. Complete waste of time BUT it is a big profit maker for BA, so customers obviously want it.

Agree.I know it was in The Sun but this snippet also...But union leaders wrote in a leaked letter that it was 'the time to bank the package' offered by British Airways, according to The Sun.

If true and must admit DM have very good contacts, then 595p will be a given, if strike 495p Its a binary bet really for traders.Collect a dividend end of November for being bullish.I reckon this week, news from Balpa.

Saw this in Daily Mail a few days ago.BALPA surely will encourage pilots to accept deal.Pilot strikes this Christmas on British Airways could be cancelled after union bosses allegedly admitted they were not likely to get a better pay deal for members.Further strikes by the British Airline Pilots' Association (BALPA) union had been called for later this year over a pay row.

Normalise p.e 5.45 not expensive, oil falling always nice to see.Pilots accepting, would be an easy 30p on shareprice, specially with the The Santa rally, should start last week November, has fund managers get stocks up, make them look good, plus higher fees on valuations.

Should hear something out of Balpa shortly, probably advising BAAC to accept offer. A couple of dates, ex div 28th November paid 4 days later. Traffic and capacity report 9th December.

Apple.....I do talk about overpaid footballers, just not here .
I also think the greedy pilots are paid more than enough.
If they want to damage the company they are asking to pay them more money, they are going the right way about it .

Think they should look at the Capital presentation to get a good idea of where the airline industry is at the moment.

Airlines cutting back and closing, not exactly a good time to be holding your employer to ransom for greed.
