Apparently, yesterday Credit Suisse issued a very supportive note in which they increased their target price. They believe that better than expected efficiencies shall drive up margins.

International Airlines Group (IAG)’s low-cost, long-haul airline Level began its first service from Paris to Montreal July 2, using an Airbus A330-200.

The Paris Orly-Montreal flight will operate 3X-weekly, while Level is launching a Paris Orly-Guadeloupe service set to operate 4X-weekly on July 3.

Level is basing two Airbus A330-200s at Orly, the French capital’s second airport, each of which is equipped with 293 economy and 21 premium economy seats as well as high-speed Wi-Fi from €8.99 ($10.42).

Level’s Paris flights are operated by IAG’s French airline OpenSkies, which has transitioned into Level, the company said.

A third A330-200 will be added in 2019 providing the opportunity to expand Level’s network further, said IAG, which is also the parent company of Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia and Vueling.

IAG CEO Willie Walsh said Level is “performing really well and ahead of our expectations in all markets. We will continue to invest in Level and are committed to accelerating its growth. Last week, we launched its new short-haul operation in Austria, which will fly from Vienna to 14 European destinations from July17.”

Level said a third A330-200 would join Barcelona operations in September, with a fourth arriving in 2019. Level flies from the city’s El Prat airport to Buenos Aires, San Francisco and Boston with a summer service to Los Angeles.

Level will fly from Paris to New York and Martinique as well as Guadeloupe and Montreal, with 3X-weekly Martinique flights from Sept. 3 and 4X-weekly services to New York from Sept. 4.

IAG has previously noted that Orly, like Barcelona, is a Vueling hub, opening the possibility of passengers flying there to connect on to Level flights from other European airports.

Fortunately I'm happy to wait, feeling very comfortable with the forward P/E for 2018 at 6.5 and 2019 at less than 6.3.

Half year results four weeks on Friday, I'd expect a rally at some point in the lead up to the results.

Recently Willie suggested that the French ATC strikes were a bigger issue than the rising oil price, some good news, this weekend's strike was cancelled at the eleventh hour.

Fingers crossed for a good set of June traffic stats this coming Weds.
