Should see some improvement in H2 as the US deals ramp up but the main kicker will be H1 08 when HSPD-12 has to be completed (Oct 08), TWIC should get going at full rate (deadline Dec 08) and we should hear news on the UK ID card programme.

THEY ARE ALREADY INVOLVED, in hspd-12, and twic, contracts with the usa government, fft. so we should she a big ramp up numbers for early 2008.

The difference between igp and actividentity is igp have more options, verisign, rsa, etc etc, when bidding for contracts, actividentity have just the one, themself.

at what point would people expect some interest in the shares ?

i.e. it is all very well for future tenders to be discussed and position papers to be distributed, but when does that show itself ?

Yup. Actividentity is #1 in the US govt ID sector, mainly because they do the Dep of Defense ID card (which preceeded HSPD-12 by 2-3 years). That gave them an in to the Dep of Veteran Affairs and of course the GSA HSPD-12 SSP. IGP is #2 with TWIC and several large agencies for HSPD-12 (including The White House and Social Security).

Regarding FRAC, it will probably be contracted by the individual states. The advantage IGP have is their OEM partnerships with Verisign and RSA since several states will outsource their requirements to one group. Actividentity is a much bigger company and so tend to want to do more themselves.

Also IGP will have the opportunity to come into a project with someone like BT as they have done with Verisign, RSA in the US. BT may get a big contract but IGP could come in and get a share of the smart card management part....That way it brings down the costs of BT....IGP have creditability with the US Government and if its good enough for them its good enough for the british government

INTELLECT, hold the key. Unfortunately Intellect seem to like the idea of a major player getting the lions share of the national ID scheme. Even with the five spoke wheel plan, it is still the big boys such as BT etc that would have the capacity for some of the contracts. Some smaller companies have had a mention in the last year from Intellect, ID Data Group, etc, but none of their shares seem to be doing much, and no optimistic hints from any of these companies. There are a lot of playing cards being held tightly to a lot of chests here.

News out on the company website over a deal struck with two companies re FRAC.
Seems the show went very well and orders will be forthcoming....

One CEO even said this was a HUGE deal....so why do IGP not release a RNS???

would help the Share price greatly yet with no financials I suppose it would get slated for releasing an RNS about a deal with no idea of how well it may prove for the company.

Good to see the TWIC and FRAC contracts are moving along though...

Good article 237gm. I think it reinforces that H1 results aren't likely to have much of a contribution from HSPD-12 or TWIC and, with the increased cost base, will probably remain lossmaking.

However, H2 is when things begin to get interesting with HSPD-12 issuance ramping up and TWIC (hopefully) starting to issue those 5k cards a day. Also, UK ID card procurement news should be available Mar-Jun next year.

Exactly. If IGP were trying to raise funds with a placing in today's climate they would have been punished even more so than they already have but that is more by chance then judgement that they got that right.

The main reason I think for the decline in IGP share price is the lack of newsflow and the fact the contracts they have won have not taken off as quick as we would have liked.

There is a good article below on the current progress of all contracts IGP are involved in incl. HSPD12, TWIC and FRAC. This article goes to show that the projects have been slow moving but they will be rapidly moving over the next few months with 5,000 cards a day projected with TWIC and 20-30,000 HSPD12 cards by novemeber.....

Ok guys, anyone know much about the UK ID card bidding - anyone got any insight into whether Intercede stand a good chance of winning these? When will the results be known? This could help sentiment on this stock.

Agreed. The bulk of their revenues are unrelated to any economic slowdown and even in the corporate sector, security in the current climate will remain a priority spend. The fundraising timing is beginning to look a bit more prudent as well.

Firms bid for ID cards contracts

British citizens will have ID cards from 2009, the government plans
The bidding process for contracts worth up to £500m each to run the UK's identity card scheme has been launched.

Five firms will be chosen to supply computer equipment and manage the application and issuing of cards.

The government said it was an "important milestone" in delivering the £5.3bn scheme, which will see ID cards issued to UK residents in 2009.

The smallest contract will be for £50m, while two are expected to be worth up to £500m.

'Institution'

These are thought to be some of the most expensive ever awarded by the government and will run for up to 10 years.

A host of firms, including IBM, Accenture, BT and Fujitsu services, are expected to bid for the contracts.

In June, Home Office minister Liam Byrne said the ID card scheme would become a "great British institution" on a par with the railways in the 19th century.

The government says the change is needed to fight terrorism, illegal immigration, people-smuggling and identity fraud.

But opponents, including the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats, have questioned the cost and effectiveness of ID cards, and argue that they will damage civil liberties.

"The two largest tenders, each for about £500m, will cover the identity database and handling of applications and enrolment"..could be interesting for IGP

ID cards: contracts on offer

IT contracts worth between £50m and £500m are a step closer thanks to the opening of a £2bn procurement programme to build and run a national identity scheme in the UK.

The Identity and Passport Service (IPS) posted a tender notice on Friday, inviting companies to apply for a place among a pool of suppliers to meet the scheme's technological needs.

The department said the tender will pave the way for a framework agreement, creating a list of prequalified suppliers with a set of agreed contract terms.

It will select a small group of the best IT suppliers in the market, who will work with the IPS and its partner agencies to deliver capabilities for the scheme.

The two largest tenders, each for about £500m, will cover the identity database and handling of applications and enrolment.

The provision of desktop services for the IPS is also included in the current NIS (National Identity Scheme) Strategic Supplier Framework.

All other elements of the ID programme, including ID cards, are described as "potential projects" and are subject to both change and approval.

Aside from leading IT suppliers, the 10-year procurement programme will turn the heads of niche IT firms, such as card manufacturers, the hi-tech group Intellect reportedly said on Friday.

Fujitsu Services, IBM and Accenture are just some of the expected bidders for the £5.7bn scheme, while BT has told CUK it is "naturally interested" in contributing to the programme.

The first contracts are expected to be handed out in May, though bidders will be able to see the competition as early as next month, when a conference will be held by The Home Office.

Had a read through the ID card prospectus. One interesting point was:

"A supplier will not, unless otherwise required or agreed, conduct any activities under a Service Agreement outside UK territory"

The good thing about the ID card procurement is that the specialist suppliers are not to be exclusive to one primary contractor. This means IGP can be members of several consortia and the government can even specify it wants a particular specialist supplier included even if it's not part of the winning consortium.
