@anley the "problems" with IOG could alternatively be seen as positives. "WB controls the finances" provides for a level of strategic certainty and negotiating gravitas and the 29% potentially mobile holding helps ensure management keep focused upon delivery lest a change of control removes them (and delivers a t/o at a premium). Are you a l-t holder?

In the meantime the board puts out yet another stream of the same old speak.......its OK but still a long long way to go before the cash comes in from gas sales.

Big play is made by IOG and Becton but Shell with its 3 JV's have an even bigger holding over what goes on in that area.

Hope all this helps............

Of course you are completely correct anley...hence the share price drift. My "however" is the likelihood of a takeout given the low valuation and ongoing consolidation in the North Sea. Either way it seems patience is needed.

Is the problem that no North Sea project has even been delivered on time and perhaps there will be a slip with this one in 2021.

Shareholders have to wait until Q3 - end September for 1st gas/oil. In the meantime the markets shrug their shoulders and say - wait and so the price goes up and down in a tight trading range.

Valuation goes out of the window for the next 7 months and shareholders get tired.........

How do I value IOG?
There are many ways DCF or NPV model would be my preference if I could be bothered - however it is the inputs that have to be accurate and I personally work out a non complicated NPV which I see as being higher than current share price. If I didn't I'd sell now. This assumes that 1 and 2p reserves and production levels are in line with company guidance.
Obviously momentum plays and over exuberant PI's might distort this a bit as well?

Would you sell your $ for say 80cents...........?

That was the start and that is where it stalled in my view and who knows if they discussed the value of Shell as a partner in 3 licenses.

No I do not but a small fund my family manages does own shares in IOG.

Just a matter of interest how do value IOG shares?

Anley - do you hold DELT buddy?
To be honest with current state of N Sea investment and exploration - that was a very fair price IMHO?
Any more and I'd be upset with IOG mgt.
I am happy they didn't overpay and anything above 1p certainly is not stealing. The "market" appears to agree with that as well.

EDGAR.......the problem was IOG were trying to steal DELT with an offer of just over 1p................did the board of IOG think that they would sell out for a discount of the cash in the bank?

2020 was always going to be the year when the North Sea started a consolidation period and this will continue in to 2021/22.

The problem which I am continuously researching is who is next and values...........
Its not one full of exciting prospects...................

Looking back some time ago at a post I made - mention was made that 12p was about the level I would buy back-in again.

Now I am not certain as how the board works - looks at its future so I shall sit tight and see how this story unfolds. Perhaps it will come to pass that all their cash will go in paying for the infrastructure they need to get into production and what happens if there is a problem with drilling - cost overuns - we shall have to wait and see.

Am glad Deltic deal off. We have enough to be concentrating on. I was worried we would overpay.

So that is your view drawn from a Middle East paper.........but not the view from the North Sea drillers and producers who are doing well from SPOT prices of gas up at 37p per therme.

It looks as though DELTIC told IOG to go away and it worked so now let the two parties get on with developing their gas portfolios.

Yes, watch and wait indeed Anley as we will have to wait a year for first gas...unless the corporate activity turns on IOG itself....which is what I am hoping for.

It looks as though every large shareholder has made its share positions clear this morning.

That been done then I would expect an offer to be forthcoming.

If both sides had not wanted to declare what they held then why would they waste their time in publishing "related" party info and other stuff?

Watch and wait.....................
