IMB is no probs. It can even afford a 7% pull and be extremely good value to funds. No reason not to see another 100+ percent over the coming 1-4 Qtrs i reckon

Talk of limit on ISAs that would kill me being one of the 4000 ISA millionaires.

If we the retail investors are wary - what of the professionals ?
Stupid labour playing politics talking down the economy to try and score points off the tories,
instead of considering the real world implications, together with whatever damage they actually
do post budget.

That's the concern monty, next week or next year??

I have been adding to my SIPP recently to lock in the tax relief but am holding the money back for now in cash related products. Once we all know for sure what is going to happen and when I can then deploy it here and in others.

Good luck all 👍🏻

Reeves will start a market sell off, if capital gains to high. But surely tax won't come in until new tax year, could she apply from budget day ?

Im not really one for patterns, but those whom are may have spotted in BATS - a key zone H&S kill coming a few days ago.

Could get nasty if none of the above occurs this week

Any of you in BATS? I think you can translate all fundamentals to a big price shown. No surprise it was the open and close area as it is standard to hit such prices on an update etc etc

Big week coming for it next week. Shorters will be monitoring that with intent. They really need some decent news flow in the week or that price crunching would be bad

It is the sort of price you may get a director buy, broker rating or some news RNS. That needs to come before price taken

Philip Morris, also involved in the Canadian litigation is very slightly up on the day and on the last week.

So BAT in Canada (a subsidiary previously called Imperial Tobacco but IMB has no residual exposure that I can find) is on the hook for about £6B which it says it will settle from cash reserves and future cash flow. News which does not seem to have been fully priced in, off about £1 making it the FTSEs worst performer.

I wonder how much BAT had set aside in provisions, how much it has reserved in cash and how long it will take future cash flow from Canadian operations to settle the award. BAT has been pledging all available cash to buybacks to try and keep up with IMB, including proceeds from disposals. Under pressure from too many directions unless it can find more dosh.

I wonder what is the extent and status of similar litigation around the world, all big tobacco must be exposed. A sobering prospect we should not ignore even while IMB seems to be on the up and up.

great strength v BATS today. If that doesnt lead the way for a BATS investor transfer, not much will

Reckon the ISA's and SIPP's will start seeing the switches soon

The positive price action this year has enabled me to reduce my holding to a more manageable 9k. Taking the capital growth and increasing yield into consideration, I'm happy to hold going forward. spud

Good to see 2300 gone, 2350/2400 next, the bigger dividends are attractive to many, setting up the portfolio ready for the equal 4 next year..

Nothing goes up in straight lines, it will trade the TA channel but 2500 for FY..? for starters.. :o)

Romping through £23 and looking set to go higher, we are back on the elevator even before the enhanced buyback kicks in. Well done IMB, looking forward to reading the detail on 19 Nov.

Consider when in FY2016 the share price was 4000 pence vs FY2023 (2000 pence) and 2250 pence now plus we have had the share buybacks on top to reduce the share capital for 2024/2025..

SP 4000 pence / 2000 pence
EPS 249.6 / 252.4 pence
DPS 155 / 146 pence
Operating profit GBP 3.5BN / 3.4BN
Net debt GBP12.8BN / 8.4BN (-35%)
Shares in issue 1.036BN vs 844M today (-18.5%)

The company is well positioned, debt much reduced, the share price has a lot more catching up to do.. :o)

If we look at the EPS/DPS being broadly similar there is a good argument for 5000 pence per share based on the reducing shares in issue, and the drop in net debt, 2500 could be just for starters as reducing inflation/interest rates drives funds looking for high yield stocks..
