A whiff of what is perceived as bad news making the minds up of those looking for an exit after the big dividends.

Not sure this is bad news either. The introduction of duty on vapes might sustain the smoking side for longer? Frustrating lack of joined up thinking by the UK government, inconsisent messaging anyway ... proposing to ban all smoking without regard for the loss of tax revenues, and ignoring that the shift to vapes and older smokers dieing out will ensure tobacco decline anyway, but proposing to introduce duty on vapes allegedly to sustain tax revenues and or to dissuade younger smokers, even though they have already sensibly proposed to ban the import of cheap fruity ones. I am still picking up about a dozen a day off the ground.

Actually this is a heralded and overdue development, duty on vapes was only a matter of time. Does it mean the tobacco lobby has lost the argument that vapes are healthy or healthier?

The fall today is largely unrelated to the potential vaping tax story

Looking at the trades.....they are mostly "AT" trades.....someone, Hedge Fund, or similar have a bot/algo set up to sell.

Hence it goes down.

I sold half of mine......will buy back when things stabilise.

No idea. NZ is repealing their recent tobacco legislation and promising other (unknown) measures. But can't see how this would be bearish here?

New potential vaping tax / duty in the UK maybe?
Not a new announcement but Govt desperate for money so an easy target.

Lol this thing is eating itself and paying out huge sustainable dividend.. about 15 percent shareholder returns currently. Not much cash needed for investment. If it doesn't move up anytime soon it's only going to be us on this board owning the whole company in 5 years time....

Amazing to think this dogshxt share was 4100 plus in 2016, like everything on ftse, cut in half capital destructive rubbish, needs a high yield….glad I bailed out took the hit and bought XLG etf, now in seriously good profit. Shares like this really for deadbeats like spud.

What should we call ourselves?

British American Brands or BABs. Unfortunately too late for Babs to be the ahem front woman.

I know the UK market is having a really good day in general but I think IMB, one day after going ex divi, is doing really well.

If we get a pullback next week to 1800 / 1810 I will add some more as I don't think it will take much to see this back in the 1900's

Good luck all 👍🏻

Is it fair to assume that the increasing concentration of IMB and BAT shareholdings means a deal is on its way?

Good that MB is buying more here and taking up a position in BATS too.
He has been bearish in recent times about the markets generally so if he is willing to add in this sector then I think it's good to have someone like him on our wavelength.

Good luck all 👍🏻
