Amazing isn't it.Three months ago nobody was much interested in tobacco stocks. One whiff of extended inflation and now investors want them.

Trimmed my overweight slice not at best price but 20p more than I was targetting, having resolved to hold through ex-div. Quite encouraged by the support this afternoon and pleased to be still well invested.

So, now with quite a cash pile ahead of reporting dates (and ISA contribution) and hopefully good divis on the way from targets including ... LGEN my best bet, or SNWS or both, less comfortable adding LLOY yet, or how about ???

BATS is down 1% almost so I dont think the IMB drop looks like anything out of the ordinary

Something to prop the share price up tomorrow would be very welcome, a shame we don't have the buyback running already.

I hope you're about on the money there lendmeafiver. The inflation print today in the UK was a 30 year high at 5.4% and the PPI data in the US came in at 1%,double what was predicted yesterday, so inflation is still running hot at the moment.Brent oil around $95pb.High yielding shares should stay in demand for a good while longer imho

It didn’t dip that much last quarter, not like has in the past, my guess is it will hit 17-40 mid morning then finish around 17-50 tomorrow, or am I being too optimistic.

Not many shares traded today so there wasn't a mad dash for the exit pre dividend date. Now the $64,000 question is what will the drop be tomorrow? I'm not selling but any drop over 48p will be informative of the share price strength here overall.

A week-end once-over from Simply Wall Street. A pretty comprehensive run through their financials including div-cover, div sustainability and so on. There's nothing there to concern me about the share.

Think we're just getting the usual pre-ex-div sell-off in IMB from those wishing to avoid tax liabilities..

BAT up but IMB down is a surprise, do you know if BAT have already started their buyback maybe?

(edit - just checked the BAT buyback announcement and it does indeed start today, that could be what is making the difference, volume buying)

Broker algorithms just dumping indiscriminately and even selling oil!!! I mean, who in their right mind thinks people are going to smoke or consume less oil because of a possible Russian invasion?spud

I see on another share chat site the debate about the divi dodge on ex-dividend date coming up (17th) here.I don't think the share price drop above the 48p of the dividend will be as great as previously in the past.Like BATS i think dips will be bought going forward because of the attractive yield here, and with inflation at 7.5%, high yield, value shares are in demand.I might be wrong but i will add to my holding here if the share price goes anywhere near below 1750p post 17/2

I don't watch TV news or read the papers anymore.

Too much obvious propaganda, cheerleading and indoctrination.
