Hi Jacks13 and Extrader, Many thanks for looking into this and your comments. Very reassuring that the docking mechanism is the same, so tried and tested for many years in service without any apparent issues.

Hi Extrader I have taken up your suggestion and sent Hurricane an email. I will convey their answer if/when I receive one.

Does anyone subscribe to OMG from ADVFN?

I received an email from them promoting OMG and it mentioned two examples of stocks they had tipped which had done well see below.

Dear Fellow investor,

The markets may be looking rocky right now but there are still gains to be made from AIM companies. Some of those we have tipped in the past are showing spectacular gains even though markets are falling. Take Keyword Studio (LSE:KWS) which has risen 621% since our recommendation. Yes it's fallen lately along with the FTSE in general but we still think it's one to hold for long-term gains.

This is just one of the small cap stocks on the AIM market with the potential to increase in price.

Or look at Progility (LSE:PGY) which is showing gains of 627% since our tip.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I looked up PGY to find it has ceased trading on AIM and had a 500-1 consolidation which had left numerous shareholders with holders fo such a small value that they were sold off by the company and the proceeds given to charity!!!

I rang ADVFN to see what level they had invested at and whether they still held the position as the email suggests they still recommend holding. nThey are looking into it but I have not heard back from them yet.

Anyone know any more?

mallye;

The only reference I am aware of that is close to answering your concerns is in the Lancaster EPS Environment Statement;

‘A newly built turret buoy will be required for the proposed EPS development. It must be capable of accommodating the three clusters of four mooring lines required for the Lancaster location, and also be of sufficient size to withstand the mooring loads that will be encountered west of Shetland.
When initially connected to the mooring lines in the field, the buoy will sit 20 m below the sea surface and a surface line will be used to pull it into the FPSO. Located just forward of the vessel centre, the turret mooring system will allow the vessel to weathervane around the fixed mooring buoy, without the need for thrusters to assist in station keeping. The capacity to disconnect the turret buoy from the FPSO will be retained.
The turret mooring system will provide the interface between the stationary subsea infrastructure which culminates at the buoy and vessel which rotates around it. As such, the buoy must provide sufficient riser slots to hold the two production risers and control umbilical needed for the initial EPS phase, while also leaving capacity for the incremental addition of further risers if needed. It will also include a mooring monitoring system, instrumentation to control the wells, modifications to allow pigging of flowlines, chemical injections facilities, emergency shutdown systems, and multiphase flowmeters.’

There is no data on the old buoy available but I believe the old turret is being reused so dimensionally the conical section of the new buoy will be identical to previous; and the docking mechanism is I believe the same. The lower chamber that remains external to the hull and which has the anchoring struts fixed to it may be larger and heavier than previous.

The Environment Statement predates Spirit Energy's involvement.

Thanks Chaps I was aware of the 'site' trial etc. Just wanted to know if anything was different to the AM's last contract.

mallye, the conical section of the new buoy, the part that is inserted into the turret, has been trial fitted in Dubai, see image gallery.

Laserdisc.
Thanks for your reply. What I was really trying to tease out is whether the geometry/dimensions of the turret/buoy mating arrangement is any different to that previously deployed which would make the hookup procedure different in anyway (I suspect no one on this board is likely to know, but I thought I would ask anyway).

laser... I'd not seen the number of potential risers/umbilicals stated anywhere (although I did count the flanges on the buoy and had already arrived at that number) - do you have a source/reference for that please.. might be some other useful info there.. TIA.
