the licences were split to facilitate a farmout ,most likely a farm down of a portion of hurricane & then farmin partner can carry out the production side of things, I believe value here if you are prepared to wait for things to unfold, I bought my last lot at 47p no more for me now as I am overweight, I am now preserving some cash just in case they give shareholders another bite at an open offer

A buyout or farmin could come at any time. Maybe soon, maybe never.

so ,the bit is turning and aiming south ,the potential here is amazing .
the drilling campaign has been relatively very cheap and agreat success.

so the data room is open ,and its been intimated that we have 1 major plus others having a gander.

question being with any dd they've done so far how much more will they need to do and timescale regarding WHIP work in progress ie Halifax well .

can we envisage any deal this side of june

As Gary38 says "It's getting exciting"

From the Halifax well spud RNS (Link below).

"we believe that the oil column extends beyond the Lancaster block boundary and potentially up to the Halifax Prospect."

I guess we could add the BOD to yesterday's straw poll that would have recce'd up;-)

The Shetland TimesMark Thomas, BP North Sea regional president said: "In recent years, we have been focusing our North Sea portfolio around core assets west of Shetland and in the central North Sea – bringing new fields into production, redeveloping and renewing existing producing facilities, acquiring new acreage and interests through licence rounds and farm-ins and selling some of our mature assets to those who see greater strategic fit with their businesses.

8 days into the Halifax drill.
Are we expecting Dr T on the rig any time soon?
I would feel better knowing he's at the coalface so to speak.

Thanks for that, knew it wasn't earnings per share, I was wondering if it was Environmental Protection Survey but it didn't seem to stack up. Sometimes I hate acronyms when not qualified.

Hurricane intends to use the Aoka Mizu for the Early Production System ("EPS") phase of development and will have the right to extend the contract for up to ten years. Under the Heads of Terms, BES has granted Hurricane an exclusive right to enter into fully-termed agreements until November 2017. It is the parties' intention to enter into fully-termed agreements prior to Hurricane's sanction date in mid-2017.

Hurricane is pleased to announce that it has signed Heads of Terms with Bluewater Energy Services ("BES") for the use of the Aoka Mizu Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessel ("FPSO") on the Company's Lancaster field, West of Shetland.

Hurricane intends to use the Aoka Mizu for the Early Production System ("EPS") phase of development and will have the right to extend the contract for up to ten years. Under the Heads of Terms, BES has granted Hurricane an exclusive right to enter into fully-termed agreements until November 2017. It is the parties' intention to enter into fully‐termed agreements prior to Hurricane's expected sanction date in mid‐2017.

The Heads of Terms sets the scope of work required to ensure the Aoka Mizu meets Hurricane's requirements for deployment at Lancaster. In addition, the Heads of Terms sets out the commercial terms between BES and Hurricane, both for the cost and terms of the upgrade and life extension work and the subsequent charter rates during the expected life of the contract.

Following the signing of the Heads of Terms, Hurricane and BES have commenced a second phase FEED study which is expected to complete in early 2Q 2017.

Or Early Production System i.e smaller FPSO less producing wells , Subsea equipment.

As a follow on from Prefabs post today 14201:

In the Times today there's an article 'Let rigs die at sea to boost the environment'.

Which starts: Ministers have been told to consider allowing oil companies to leave old platforms in the North sea to save the taxpayers billions of pounds and prevent environmental damage.

Basically Ed Davey former energy minister and Johnathon Porritt environmentalist calling for a review of the rules (Ospar).

Bit touchy Gary!! Here's what the company have said about funding the EPS. Maybe the FT should offer me a job!! ;-#))

"A preliminary estimate is that the capital expenditure required to achieve first oil from the EPS, excluding the two horizontal wells which have already been drilled and tested, is expected to be up to USD400 million. This estimate comprises vessel hull and topside conversion, vessel repair and life extension, turret, buoy and mooring, Subsea Equipment, well completions and vessel deployment and associated service and engineering costs (including the Subsea Equipment, buoy, mooring and control system long lead items funded by the Fundraising).

Hurricane is considering a range of financing options for the EPS phase of the Lancaster development and currently intends to finance the EPS via a combination of some or all of the following options: equity, production pre-payment facility, deferred vendor finance, deferred yard and fabricator finance, hybrid ownership of the FPSO, export credit agency guarantees and farmout"

No problem Guardian that's just my interpretation of the article, Shells problem will be offloading aging assets @ a decent $pb. I know which assets I'd be running the rule over, given the choice.
