SP Angel comment today:

• Hurricane (LON:HUR– 36p) – The Time has Come: Today’s results are less about the numbers, although the balance sheet remains healthy enough for a company at this stage of its development, and more about the forward plan and progress towards the delivery of first oil. In this respect, the Company is on track, and with more than sufficient cash resources to deliver first oil, if not a full field development plan, the piecemeal approach adopted by the Company, in which it produces oil from an interim system while it develops its understanding of the field and generates cash, is an excellent first step. The disadvantage, or benefit to this approach, is that your competitors can get an understanding of the field’s performance. If that understanding is ahead of the wider market, a bid could arbitrage the difference between the field’s value (as an entity held to maturity for cash), over the immediate “worth.” Still, this is a luxury problem to have. Either way, the Company’s owners should be pleased with the management’s performance to date and the direction the Company is moving in.

The thing I found most interesting in today's presentation(s) was that that the oil production rate appears to be limited by gas flaring. (I recall also that the flare tip is too high to pass under the Suez bridge and the top section will be fitted in R'dam. Cf. this Kraken & Catcher who transited Suez with no need for modification, but neither of these are designed for routine flaring. The additional height is necessary to take the heat further away.)

They have introduced some potential options to export the gas, and have quantified that this would allow them to produce to the limit of the wells, i.e. 50% more than the base case.

I noticed also, that the seismic is being reprocessed not only for the whole of Hurricane's acreage, but also including PMO's Solan field...and look how close Strathmore is to Solan. I know we've talked about a possible deal to use some of Solan's spare capacity, but this is the first time I've seen Solan actually shown on one of HUR's presentation maps.. so maybe progress on this front is being made.

telbap - there's a big difference in quality between HUR and UKOG. Maybe that's reflected in the quality of posting?

There are plenty of better places for the trolls to make hay than a company rapidly heading for production and cashflow.

Didn't take long for the buying to kick off again this week!
