I agree and the spectre of inflation will drive up interest rates

Happy to continue accumulating here. I think we'll see a decent price appreciation this year as banks come back into favour with their dividend resumption. spud

Luke,

Dont want the Hong Kong/China exposure when the proverbial hits the fan.
Also for similar reasons do not want to be in Banks generally.

Hi Gecko.
Why sell, or at least keep 50 % ? For this kind of stock if you bought in October 2020 as I did (wish I bought a whole lot more at that time but that's life..) you will get the stocks for free over a 5-10 year time frame through dividends very easily - unlike stingy Goldman Sachs et al in the US.
Cheers have a good week.

Hope you're correct Luke as I'll be selling in April then :)

Not long to go if your tea leaf reading is spot on!

No Time Frame ?? ...

Well my timeframe for HSBC is that it should rise close to 500 in April if all things remain calm politically.

Today is EOM flows.Dont expect too much.

But April is generally the best month to trade.

It's a snail trail stock but gives good dividends long term.Dont expect too much immediately.

Having said that .. STAN / HSBC [ January 26 2018 ] Before War Games ..

Have a good week all.

So true Luke. The US is going down the pan, worldwide losing its credibility, dollar will collapse, the likes of China will make from this. The US is losing friends fast, COVID is BS , look at the US southern boarder, if it was real they wouldn't let them in. China is the new super power already.

Thanks XAMF re: GLEN. I think patience is the key at this moment. A few global political games going on re: STAN / HSBC (China).Porsche ?? - to me US banks have had a decent run and are overvalued, as is the rest of Wall st at this time. 12 years free fake money from the FED to boost stocks ?? - time for changing of the guard. And don't be a smart *ss in here ...support with arguments.

Luke - I’ll have another look at STAN. GLEN has provided fab returns too. Both look like they’re ready to break out of their range in the next few days. HSBA definitely up but GLEN could go either way (though supported by 50day MA).
Good luck today.

EXACTLY XAMF. I'm doing the same thing with HSBA and STAN, although expecting more northerly direction for both after this consolidation range level.

You’re wrong Porsche1945. HSBA was down to 421 a couple of days ago, closed at 441, down to 425 today and back up again. With 420 providing strong support and a volatile sp, swing trading resistance levels here has provided even better returns of late than Goldman’s great run. I hold both.

Getting the FT100 to go positive is like trying to take a reluctant 3 legged dog for a walk in December!

Was at the same value in Feb 14! I can't believe companies are still at or below those values, Covid effect or not.
