Some big trades gone through in the last few days and a SARS announcement. Takeover possibility still bubbling in my opinion. I agree with spinvest that there is little downside to these especially with other insurers reporting good progress and increasing underwriting premiums. DYOR

Probable takeover target.

Seems to me that at todays buy-in price there is very little downside; so I have doubled my interest.

Fair point Paddy..., but due to this being a 'paper' deal, could the same not be said of Cox.

You are right about 1 thing, there is something that is not right in either/or!

I do not hold either, but am interested in the direction of both shares over the next 6 months....

You do need to worry about why the talks were terminated. The odds are that there are somethings not to the liking of Cox, I would be very careful here. Highways problem is size and also credibility that it has truely left behind the problems of the past.
Operations of this size are going to struggle in the markets in which they operate, be careful here! I dont hold any positions nor do I intend to, dyor imho etc, good luck to those that hold.

Agree.

This will dip a little more today while those holding wonder 'why?' terminated. However, Highway, after many difficult years, appear to have turned the corner and now did not seem like the right time!

thank goodness they terminated the talks, couldn't see Cox offerring much of a good price. The discussions were suppressing the share price.

The longer no announcement appears, the greater the likelihood that Cox has found no bad surprises.
