06/12/2002 00:54 | I was looking at AMEC earlier as well. Have a look at ZYT though ( not insurance ) but I reckon the results could have a hidden surprise. | pdyke14856
06/12/2002 00:17 | Well, we certainly think alike Dontknowitall, 1 sold 1/3 of mine yesterday. Bought some AMEC this am - latest fall overdone IMHO. Down from £4.50 to £1.30 over last 6 months or so - to multi-year low. | bucketfull
06/12/2002 00:12 | Hi Bucketfull You're going to have a chuckle now...I sold yesterday in a panic!! Not sure that was such a wise thing to do with hindsight, but I was fearing a sudden downturn in the markets. If only I had the benefit of seeing today's prices yesterday. | dontknowitall
06/12/2002 00:09 | Nice to see we're going higher again today!! | bucketfull
05/12/2002 15:03 | Looks like 45p before XMAS. Having a look at a number of insurance companies they have posted a good 30% rise in the last month or so. 45p sees an 18month high. There were more articles on increasing car premiums this week. So it's a bonus going up - it will hopefully cover the cost of my higher car insurance :-) | pdyke14856
05/12/2002 13:10 | I know terrible spread. But what the hell! | pdyke14856
03/12/2002 10:59 | Ash - no i was in Dublin yesterday so missed that pop up in the price. Who knows if I had sold it - i guess there is resistance at 45p. Looking for a little consolidation then hopefully a move above these levels. Rgds | techair
02/12/2002 18:09 | Really getting close to that 18 month high. Note we were down early this morning on profit-taking but the trend is definitely up. 45+ here we come. | pdyke14856
02/12/2002 09:33 | Techair, Did you close HWY? I have never held personally. Cheers Ash | mr ashley james
02/12/2002 08:30 | Techair, It seems to have reversed, was nicely up 2.50p or 6%, now only up 1p or 2.40% Oh well Cheers Ash | mr ashley james
01/12/2002 17:01 | HWY tipped in Sunday Telegraph today:- "...Ockham has since been renamed Highway Insurance Holdings and the shares are now trading at 42p. Activist investor Chris Mills, a fund manager at JO Hambro, has been building a substantial stake in the business in recent months. Last week, JO Hambro bought a further 500,000 shares, taking its total stake in the business to 17.11 per cent. We expect to see Hambro push for a restructuring that could create value for shareholders. Keep buying." | bucketfull
28/11/2002 19:14 | As the house brokers have done the rounds in the city, interest has returned and I can see a couple more institutions piling in before the year end... personally will hold out for a 45p bid and reassess the situation, personally see a 50% chance it goes above 45p. | factsonly
28/11/2002 17:12 | I've always liked HWY(OCK) and have traded in and out about four times over the last three years. They have always had that little cycle ( especially the last 18months or so) between 34-40. I have always (bar once) had a divvy and sold out at 40 and then waited for the drop. Not this time. The price has moved to 41 on some strong buying, both shareholder and institutional. Results were not great this time around , but the increase in premiums for the future including the demise of ambulance chasers + new claim assessment software and systems eg. CLM make me bullish about the stock. If we can manage 42+ in the next week it means we will be hitting 12 month highs ( do it 3 times in a month )and I know that this opens it to a different breed of traders and greater heights. 50p is then possible. | pdyke14856
28/11/2002 16:54 | Oh heck! I've been found out! | dontknowitall
28/11/2002 16:49 | Glad to see DKIA appearing here as well. I agree with Bucketfall, being trading short-term on NSB, SPT etc. Speculative punts on My Travel,MDY, LGD on the way. But I have held HWY(OCK) for about three years on and off. Always make a profit. If you're looking for an exit then 44-46 is definitely a good range, but the way this is moving it is possible it will go much much higher. Im staying in for the divvies. | pdyke14856
28/11/2002 16:07 | Bucketfull - many thanks for the reply. PTY, that's the one. I was thinking of exiting this at 44p (bid) but looking at the volumes, loads of shares have changed hands in the last few months. And, as you point out, directors buys, etc. I'll watch for buying at the 44p-46p level and if there's enough (imo), then I'll hold for the ride. | dontknowitall
28/11/2002 15:54 | Don't know at all, dontknowitall. I like this one - I'm intending holding at least until next divi. Lots of stake-building going on, directors buy. Solid stuff IMHO. I'm still in NSB. Was it PTY you were thinking of? I'm thinking of getting back into Ingenta (IGA) which seems to have dropped 25%-ish for no real reason. | bucketfull
28/11/2002 15:48 | Bucketfull What price should I sell at? I got another well wrong recently and you had it spot on! But I'm blown if I can remember which it was. NSB? | dontknowitall
28/11/2002 15:39 | On the move again for no obvious reason - perhaps another delayed buy to be posted later? | bucketfull
26/11/2002 16:42 | Chunky buys galore. | techair
26/11/2002 16:37 | Yet another million buy posted at the close today. | bucketfull |
