No capital gain tax on bonds and PIB, of course on the income, interest is paid gross as well.

Why is the growth tax free?

Surely only so if you fall within your CGT allowance?

I just bough the Halifax PIB 9.3/8 price 91 yield is over 10% now really backed by the gov, paid out March and September. All PIB are going to have a run, investors looking for income. PIB stand for Permanent Bearing Shares issued by the Building Societies. Nationwide yield is over 8.75% not bad when their deposit yields 2.5%.

Why wait to sell, HBOS trading at conversion rate now. HBOS buyers of late like LLOY sitting on profits. More to come IMO.

Problem is come next Monday, will many of those that bought HBOS sell first thing to gain a nice profit, if so Lloyds could nose dive, any views?
