12/1/2009 10:36 | Not sure where your figures are coming from, but all I am saying is that a significant amount of the fine/loss/settlement has already been written off against last years profits. | rkjones

12/1/2009 10:05 | The court settlement is already priced in and has no impact IMHO | leopold555
12/1/2009 09:16 | Lloyds had already set aside approximately half of the court settlement sum as acontingency and so the impact is not as great as apparent. | rkjones

12/1/2009 07:38 | Results of Placing and Open Offer 12 January 2009 Lloyds TSB today announces that, as at 11.00 a.m. on 9 January 2009, being the latest date for receipt of valid acceptances and settlement in full under the Open Offer, it had received valid acceptances in respect of 13,085,995 Open Offer Shares in aggregate, representing approximately 0.50 per cent of the total number of Open Offer Shares offered to Qualifying Shareholders pursuant to the Placing and Open Offer announced by Lloyds TSB on 13 October 2008. Each of the Lloyds TSB Directors has taken up his or her Open Offer Entitlement in full. In accordance with the arrangements set out in Part VIII of the Prospectus, upon closing of the Placing and Open Offer, HM Treasury will acquire the remaining 2,583,567,208 Open Offer Shares for which valid acceptances have not been received. HBOS has also announced today the results of the HBOS Placing and Open Offer and that it has received valid acceptances in respect of 17,692,895 HBOS Open Offer Shares in aggregate, representing approximately 0.24 per cent of the total number of HBOS Open Offer Shares offered to HBOS Shareholders pursuant to the HBOS Placing and Open Offer. As with the Lloyds TSB Placing and Open Offer, HM Treasury will acquire the remaining HBOS Open Offer Shares for which valid acceptances have not been received from HBOS Shareholders. As a result, based on the number of Lloyds TSB Shares and HBOS Shares in issue as of today's date, it is expected that on completion of the proposed acquisition of HBOS (following the Scheme becoming effective in accordance with its terms) HM Treasury will own approximately 43.4% of the enlarged issued ordinary share capital of the newly named Lloyds Banking Group plc as at 19 January 2008. | masurenguy

11/1/2009 18:16 | I paricularly think people should be aware of this paragraph from the times article: "They warned that they might have to add qualifications to the accounts - with the potential to scare both shareholders and savers". | pointscorer
11/1/2009 18:11 | If I were to invest in HBOS, say 20000 shares, how much would I benefit through the merger and when? | fiendish
11/1/2009 17:15 | banking sector to fly... "The next steps to be unveiled within a fortnight.... will involve creating a so-called "bad bank" to take toxic debt off banks' books." Cracking idea, Gromit. | gordonbrown
10/1/2009 15:14 | For each Hbos share you get 0.605 Lloyds Group shares and very generous the offer is. You still have time to buy Hbos and get Lloyds shares at a small profit but not for long. | wrightey

09/1/2009 17:26 | RKJONES - read LLOY thread for more info. | makemoneytoday
09/1/2009 17:20 | Surely, there is a ceiling to which they can rally, this determined by Lloyds share price. The stakes are changing slowly. Until recently HBOS buys (assuming the deal goes through!) have been a cheap way into Lloyds. Will the HBOS share price now drive Lloyds higher. By my standards, have got a significant investment in HBOS averaging at about a £1 - am quietly confident in the medium term as D-day approaches!! | rkjones
09/1/2009 16:10 | I believe the shorters have got to close before the merger therefore i'm expecting HBOS to rally up until the 16th | cool hand kev |
