I think they havnt started closing at lloy.
If they close at lloy the share price will go up and hbos will follow.
I think they are being clever and closing hbos 1st while surpressed under lloy price.
It is not in their interest to drive lloy higher.

From LLOYDS TSB GROUP PLC, to LLOYDS GROUP,after the merger.No TSB or hbos.Those with open shorts in both banks they MUST close them,and new shorts will not be allowed.

Trustees of the HBOS pension scheme are considering asking a judge to set aside the bank's proposed acquisition by Lloyds TSB until "appropriate arrangements" are made to guarantee that the merged banking group will stand behind the fund, which has an estimated shortfall of £3bn-£5bn.

The trustees will meet on Friday to vote formally on whether to press ahead with a legal challenge to the Scheme of Arrangement proceedings on January 12, expected to give formal approval to the merger. The deal's structure thus gives the trustees an opportunity to mount a legal challenge that they would not have if the deal was simply structured as a takeover

Obviously the epic hbos will no longer exist.The hbos shares will be suspended for a few days then we will be credited with new shares.Those with open shorts will no longer be able to buy hbos back so will lose all.
I did try to find out if lloy will also change its epic in which case any llloy shorts would also have to be closed.
