Awww! Old Mr Hearts has nodded off again. Someone make sure he doesn't swallow his teeth. You have to admire that old man's commitment. Here, morning, noon and night, day in, day out, 365 days a year, even though he has no shares, no money and no apparent reason for being here. I try to pop in and check on him whenever I can. I like to bring him a little hot soup. He's skin and bone. Ah well, one more clean shirt, as they say.

Why is an Iraqi military operation called Inherent Resolve? And when is an Iraqi general going to push an American away with one hand and say "I can do it myself, dad!"

Not kill, nest, manage. They were the civil service for decades. Then Paul Bremer brought in a very new broom with no handle.

I've posted repeatedly that the sorting out of Iraq/KRI/IMF/Kirkuk/Mosul etc., would coincide with the end of "ISIS" in Iraq. Obviously, deals have been done. And not just between the Shia and the Kurds.

That's why the Iraqi army never fled near Mosul. They just took their uniforms off and went indoors. They were the Sunni Ba'ath Party bit of the army. The Ba'ath Party being disbanded is like the Conservative Party being disbanded. You can sack the civil servants and the generals, but the rank and file remain, waiting to be led again, by their Sunni leaders. That happened about five minutes after the US left.

The interim has been called "Avoiding a civil war". With the arrival of the IMF peacekeepers, we're moving into the 3-state solution phase. Only, that won't be made obvious to Sun readers either.

The U.S. Army announced Friday it will deploy about 500 soldiers from the Big Red One to Iraq this fall.

The 1st Infantry Division Headquarters troops will assume the role of Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command-Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, according to an Oct. 14 Army press release.

The Fort Riley, Kansas, unit will replace soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), providing command and control of coalition troops training, advising and assisting Iraqi Security Forces.

Fake Taxi: "JB any profit you make, which I doubt you will, has not been worth it for 7 years here watching the massive profit you had drift away."

Is that why you haven't bothered investing during your 7 years here?
