13/2/2019 21:51 | Simple facts. 1.The dividend is taken out of a share price on ex dividend day. 2. The share price can fall by more than the dividend or less than the dividend on ex dividend day. That depends on buying and selling. Sometimes a share makes up all the dividend mark down and can even finish up on ex dividend day as a result if there is plenty of buying. Or if there is a lot of selling (e.g from investors wanting out but wanting to get the dividend)the share price could fall a lot further than just the ex dividend mark down. | kenmitch
13/2/2019 21:34 | Yes I agree with what you say and yes I was one of the 3.5 p brigade,it's been a very choppy ride over the years, and because of that I am still very wary,I am angry that they don't keep the shareholders informed, many here say why do they have to,the trouble is because they don't say anything there is no direction in the price ,only speculation, and I fear this will continue forever, funny thing happened today ,I bought Beowulf mining a long time ago 500000 at 2p ,it suddenly came alive today and closed on 6.8p,it's not for the faint hearted, trump and China looks very positive at the moment,I'm sure this will help our share, good luck. | alangrifbang
13/2/2019 21:27 | Up. I think you are right on the nail head re not many traders here, given a high proportion of people hold the shares for a long term investment and 35 %ish are in private hands is an issue. The fear is if one of the large main three holders dump. Although I think we shall see some shakes in order for the MMs to make a market. I hate doing it but I've set a stop loss albeit will still be in profit at the the level set. Interesting times methinks.Zoo | zooman
13/2/2019 20:13 | Alan, Despite all the bickering on this BB the last few weeks what is there to get a return from? Zoo yes I see your stance and have said that many times. I do believe that the 3.5p brigade did very well indeed so that leaves the rest. At this price there may be more to come but lets face it the licence may or may not arrive. It could take another month or even a year or two. So what have we got apart from the rise and fall of the price of Zinc that strangely enough the GFM share price does not appear to react to like other miners. So despite all this I still like GFM however they could do everyone a favour including themselves by declaring a dividend. If they wanted to sell the company it could raise the base price from where the initial offer might start. Still I see Zoo's point, however there are not a lot of traders here. Regards to all | up just a little bit
13/2/2019 19:52 | My broker only rated the share price at 65p at the present moment, even I can't understand this, they are supposed to be intelligent and in the know,I will be watching the share very carefully from now on,I have held these for so many years, but may have to halve my holding, not that I've got any need for the money,I will probably stick it in national grid and hope Corbyn DOSENT get in,he has said he would nationalise it, | alangrifbang
13/2/2019 18:04 | And there you go folks.... Even more reason to underpin the share price with a dividend | up just a little bit
13/2/2019 17:34 | I had to ring my broker in London this afternoon and whilst I was on I mentioned griffin,to say they were less than favourable is an understatement,it unnerved me and I sold 20000 ,this was at 3 30 ,I don't feel great about it but it's done,at least I have loads left,I've got an awful feeling that even if the next results are good it will still go down, sorry folks I'm feeling a bit deflated, | alangrifbang
13/2/2019 17:30 | Ex-dividend a share price drops to what it would have been without the anticipated dividend. That is not a disadvantage to the SP. However, the fact that the share has a yield is an advantage on the market, so the SP will be higher, even ex-dividend, than it would be if no dividend was ever paid. | rose_by_another_name
13/2/2019 17:29 | Why did you change your user name? I have always used the same one on all sites. Choices I suppose. On the dating site did you lie about your age or were you up front? ;-)Zoo | zooman
13/2/2019 17:22 | I was on here under a different user name long ago. I am known to many people in person, but I learned long ago not to allow my personal data to get onto the internet, as you instantly lose control over it. For this reason I have no presence on social media, though I was on dating sites for a period under several pseudonyms. Successfully! Dating sites are careful about preserving anonymity for obvious reasons, but you pretty much have to put up some photos. | rose_by_another_name
13/2/2019 15:58 | ???? Actually it will drop when it goes x-d not when it is paid | phillis
13/2/2019 15:50 | It will and when the dividend is paid it and it will drop, nature of the game. Zoo | zooman

13/2/2019 12:54 | I have held tullow in the past phillis,if I still had them I would be playing catchup for the rest of my life,it's always had difficulties with dry wells and nobody really knows what the bottom price level is,but good luck, | alangrifbang
13/2/2019 12:22 | Tullow returns to profit AND dividend Shares up 4% | phillis
13/2/2019 12:11 | Yes, that was eventually confirmed by Zooman himself. They are not the same, only uncannily similar. | rose_by_another_name
13/2/2019 08:31 | I'm talking about legislation and pressure that is building regarding social media in which this is included and the cyber bulling that goes on within these platforms etc but you know that. When and if it happens? and these sites and others are forced to drop nicknames then I shall abide. Enough said on this. | zooman |
